Had 10 utes including the ranger triton and navara-Got the GWM cannon X done 90 k now not one issue great to drive and would buy another one in an instant.
Irrelevant. Nothing from China nor any PR stunt for their products will ever convince me to buy into China 🇨🇳 made products. Proven over decades and the world's top manufacturers of quality, reliability, resale values and the greatest dealer network on planet earth 🌏 : = TOYOTA ❤
What a great review, thanks! I own an old Outback 2008 with a manual gear box, no disturbing safety systems and a panoramic roof! Well...this is exactly what I would like to have in a new Outback! I would accept a automatic 7-speed gear-box but not a CVT and not a open roof from the 80s and not all those bips and messages from the car as soon as I move my face. I guess they have lost many customers with those choices (especially due to the CVT...). I would like a new Outback but I guess I will have to look for something else.
Jesus didn't drove a ASX but what he did do for you is died that you may now have life, but i get what you mean :) just wondering why you didn't say Shiva, Muhammed, Ares, Apollo or one of the many other gods, Jesus always seem to get picked on. Its always the God of the Bible just my observation but carry on :) we are here to watch car tech and reviews.
The exposed demister is great. Easy to fix. Same as my Patrol. The simple seat adjusters is the way most cars work without the annoying plastic covers that break. Thanks for the drive test. We were dubious about the steering characteristics.
All I know is if this car and anyone of these premium vehicles go into a blizzard or off-roading only one of us coming back. That was all I needed to know before purchasing. Best decision I have made.
The product planning department at Mitsubishi Motors would be an interesting place to work. How did they come up with multi link rear end but no ‘performance’ model?
the ASX is based on Lancer (same platform so suspension is the same) and the in house "Rallyart" team made those Lancer GSR and of course the EVO move around corners.
awesome Bret you got it sideways ... Just on the CVT, you do have the option to drive it in step (semi manual) mode even though its push to upshift pull to downshift (re: the wrong way round), that CVT can take that punishment also (I know from experience with my family members 2013 "XB" ASX). Overall the ASX is actually a no nonsense urban runabout, that said on the highway, yeah the vague steering and lack of torque hurts it but great brakes and somewhat decent suspension (as you say its all independent and its based on the sedan/hatch back Lancer from back in the day which did have "Rallyart" tunning done to them)< I can see why Mitshibishi continues to sell them in decent numbers, I wonder if a "Cherry Tiggo shitbox" could handle the same punishment, doubt it.
also from memory Mitshibishi used to sell a 5-speed manual turbo diesel with AWD when they first released them way back in 2010. Also I think they had a locking centre diff for 4x4 high range
@@351tgv I would love to test a Chery or MG under the same conditions, or better yet, an endurance test; 50 laps, see which one lasts the longest/shapes up better in the end.
1:26 lack of a so called “driver monitoring camera” is a pro not a con 😂 Especially considering what a half arsed implementation Mitsubishi did given the new Triton’s crap show of the thing.
@@troyh7604 That’s not correct. Check latest video; full 0-100 test, S mode was 9.77s with no brake-hold vs 9.64 in D with no brake-hold. I find sports modes are rarely a lot quicker. In fact, sometimes they are slower because they let the engine rev too high, well beyond peak power in some cars. Sport mode usually only sharpens throttle response and holds gears for longer, it doesn’t add power👍
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia - I think Mitshibishi Australia will love the fact you "drove it like you stole it" for the very simple reason, the car took the punishment and could easily take more, lets see if a China brigade car can handle the same thumping, probably not.
They nailed it with the Facelift for the ‘24 year cycle. Love every single bit of my ‘24 N line Ultimate 💜 . Best 1/4 mile time stock managed at 15.0 secs at 95 mph trap speed . Best daily commuter with a sporty feeling to it
a family member has the 2013 "XB" version and it has step gear manual mode, buts its the wrong way round : push to upshift / pull the downshift (wrong way round), finny thing is it feels like your driving a manual in the way it does the "step" gear change (engine revs) but 1st to second is like a sling shot and its yes you get torque steer if your not careful and lots of traction control kicking in in wet conditions.
but mitsubishi is not doing well lol exit from china, nobody cares about this brand and in my country they even sold mpv with 2 airbag while toyota giving 6 simplicity? more like stingy still outdated products
Ideal for city and suburb driving with speed limit of 50km to 80km in most roads. Good safety rating, 7 yrs warranty and modern technology. Not exactly anaemic with 1.5 turbo. You cant buy a Japanese for that price.
It’s quite a light vehicle so that’s why it achieved under 10 secs but still quite decent. I wonder what the 2.4 naturally aspirated version will do? 🤔
New Hilux spotted at the AFL Grand Final behind the presentation stage … it was almost hidden, but it’s the second vehicle from the left. FYI: Might be worth Clipping the image and make a video for the clicks.
Unfortunately no mate, by the time I got my phone out I missed it and only have a shot of the grill. I only have 7 Plus and the replay is not up yet … but if you have another service provider, simply replay the presentation and there is a perfect angled side shot of the vehicle. You will get the grill and the body. You will have to move fast as it’s nowhere online yet … I suspect deliberate marketing by Toyota to see who picks it up first for a win win click bait.
The first section is like a documentary of every ASX rental car's experience. Agreed though, they're a good thing if you just want a simple, long lasting, easy to use and well supported car. It really sucks about the CVT, that would be a deal breaker for me - but I've suggested the ASX to people who just want some simple and reliable transport. Much better idea than most of the Chinese rubbish out there, that's for sure.
@@mahcooharper9577 Haha standard rental car driving, yes. I would like to put some of the newcomers to the test like this but I am sceptical about their toughness. This, after a wash, not a scratch or squeak at all 👌
@@drivingenthusiastaustralia agreed, I wouldn't do that with some of the stuff on the market today but I can believe the Mitsi lapped it up! Not sure how the manufacturers take to it but if I was them I wouldn't be complaining - it's a bloody good advertisement for their car if it can take a lickin' and keep on tickin'. ;)
And when you are done beating up on it if it needs parts or repairs there are Mitsubishi dealers everywhere including most country towns unlike the Chinese where parts and resale are a problem.
Good to hear some commentary 👍. Statement of the year too in relation to driver monitoring bings and bongs on so many other newer designed cars … “if you actually pay attention to the driving, you’ll be fine ..” 😂👏👏👏 I do hate the CVT in this car and the complete lack of sound insulation though … but I get it, the majority of owners don’t care for flooring it most days …
The asx is really reliable , but i prefer the eclipse cross, the cvt is stepped with gear shifts so there is no constant engine reving. The eclipse also has a turbo engine so acceleration is much better. The engine in the cross is also reliable since it has been around since 2018 with no issues
Wife bought this car ex-demo 2021 w/ 10,000km on it. it's now at 95,000 and it hasn't missed a beat, decent size, good boot space, 750km on a tank, has car play, for $25k with 7-years left on a 10-year warranty. there's not really much more you can ask for. It's a triple B car. Basic. But. Bulletproof.
G'day it's Steven here It's great to hear more Aussie voices on RU-vid. Also your factual and unique take in your reviews is credible and interesting. Clearly you're a skillful driver and I was impressed by your rally inspired driving, it also takes me back to Mitsubishi's rally winning days. There's no doubt in my mind why this vehicle has been so hugely popular however I would've loved to have seen the more powerful GSR or Exceed being tested. Looking forward to more Mitsubishi reviews in the future.
