I had a 40 Blackfin with 28 x 28 four blade Acme props pushed by twin Volvo tama 6 cyclinder 620 hp each engines, My Blackfin in gear at the slowest speed did 6.5 knots. Going thru the PP canal Id occasionally run into a CC fool like this and wonder why he couldnt buy a real boat .
That looks like right by the Bridge Ave. Bridge, all those years driving over the Canal I never thought is was that bad but then again I didn't think the Manasquan inlet was that bad either, my mistake.

no way would I attempt the PPC with a 2 1/2 hp outboard motor - I have a 4 hp outboard on my 18 foot catboat with a remote gas tank and I would have to be hard pressed to go through the PPC with that
In the 80's when I was 16 myself and a friend were in my 13.5 ft Boston Whaler in the canal when a group of kids were spotted throwing rocks at all the boats including us while giving the finger & telling everyone to F off. I did a u-turn and went out of the canal on the Manasquan River side & without them noticing steered my boat right up onto the beach & got out and starting yelling at them while chasing them. They split up but I was on one kids ass and chased him up to his front door where he opened it, ran inside and slammed the door on me. I banged on the door and the kids father came out and I went off on him about what a little prick his kid is along with his friends. The satisfying part was they thought they were safe as they were on land and we were in a boat in the canal - thinking there's no way for us to get them. I bet they never did that again & still remember that time they nearly got a beat down.
