Hello, Good question. CFRP rods are commercially available and are used also as tension rods for reinforcing concrete. Tor-steel rods need to be covered with a certain thickness of concrete to avoid corrosion. This is not neccessary when CFRP-rods are used. Also CFRP-rods are used in form of a kind of grid contruction for holding textiles applied in form of a tent. Important is to know that carbon fibres need to be loaded by tensile forces or bending forces not by compression. Pultrusion is a nice process to produce CFRP-tubes, rods or profiles with higher length, which will be needed in the construction area. Hoping this information will help you. Best regards Mario

In 1925, we replaced all of the link-type couplers of the Japanese National Railways with automatic knuckle-type couplers at the same time. In 1925, JNR had a total of 60,000 railcars, and we replaced all of them on the exact same day. The Japanese government took a long time to prepare, and all of the railcars were operated with replacement couplers loaded on them, and on the day of the replacement, the replacement was carried out wherever each railcar was parked. Preparations were also made for the railcars themselves to replace the couplers at each regular inspection, so that all 60,000 railcars could be replaced on the same day.

The transfer of information given by a sensor is of course one of the features. But please be aware: the transfer is one part of the story. There must also be a centralized intelligence that knows how to handle these information. E.g. what to do when the temperature on the brakes, in the wagon load etc. is going up/down.
