If you like thrifty fashion and sewing shenanigans, you're in the right place.
My name is Melody; I'm an avid sewist, maker-of-things, and lifelong theatre kid who never outgrew playing dress-up. I love being able to take something old (whether I already own it or found it at the thrift store) and turn it into something new; that goes for my wardrobe as well. You can expect to find thrift-flips, styling experiments, costume creation, and other creative projects on this page. Let's wear out dang clothes, and sew that dang fabric stash!
Your apron is very beautiful, and your work is well done. Furthermore, it fits you very well. Me too, although I am a man, I like wearing such aprons especially cross-back aprons without ruffles or anything like that, simple cross-back aprons.
I live in Alaska so our summer has almost ended already, I’m eyeing fall clothes right now, but I still love watching your videos ☺️ I’m 31 and your style is a major inspiration for me!
I'm not familiar with this challenge and maybe it doesn't help that I'm not a native english speaker: what's the main aim for this challenge? I like the daily outfit photo idea and I can separately understand if someone wants to do a no buy / low buy challenge (not a problem for me so I would find it unnecessary) and was dressing up (making an effort) also encouraged? I would find it weird to not just simply exist in your usual outfits and get a feeling how well it supported your day (like a daily mindfulness meditation just for clothing:D) but try to change it with force, I would quit a challenge anytime that starts with the premise that my style isn't in the right place and I need to push myself to change it, for example with dressing up. Was this in the description of the challenge or was this a subjective feeling that you get overtime while doing the challenge? Thank you in advance for the clarification 😅💚 So my main question is that dressing up means only to get dressed (as smth that everyone's do whether they like it or not) or like dress up like put in some effort? I guess it's the second and then it's not a challenge that would resonate with me either 😅
⛈ I love your girly summer style, I think this is the seasom where we dress most similar to eachother :D And your Barbie gingham dress and that brown skirt with the cream puff sleeve top are perfection, you inspire me to start to learn sewing - smth that a want to do for ages but doesn't know where to start... If you have any suggestion, tip or experience with that, let me know, please 💚
You should definitely give sewing a try! I find skirts to be the easiest, but you could even start with just pillow covers or something simple. There's tons of tutorials on youtube that are very detailed and easy to follow, if you look up "easy sewing tutorial" with the specific item of clothing you want to make. :)
These outfits are super cute, it's also how I dress in the summer, though I don't have any athletic skirts (it never occurred to me to wear them when not exercising!). They're super cute I might look for some ⛈️
Let me know if y'all want "outfit formula" vids for other seasons! I don't have too many "new" outfits to show you guys, since I really have been outfit repeating the same or similar outfits as are shown in previous videos over the last couple years, but I can probably group them into broader "outfit formulas" if that would be a helpful topic.
Another Dramatic Classic that dresses like a Flamboyant Classic here! The stereotype for Flamboyant Gamine was/still is Audrey Hepburn at 5'7". Far too tall for a true role model for the type. Just saying.
Congratulations on your new happy place - sewing room! I like everything about it. Leave the wall blank by your clothes rack. Yes, bring in a comfy armchair for relaxing. A very unique place! 🤗
Though your tastes are different from my own, I love the way you thrifted, repurposed, & used things you had on hand to bring everything together! Congratulations & Enjoy
Cute ☺️ If I had a go at this I might consider using an inner waistband of a different, thinner fabric as it looks like it turned out quite bulky at the band… I don’t think my waist line would suffer the indignity of extra fabric quite as well as yours does 😂 🦪
