September 2024 and I'm still watching this fantastic game well done swa,and also a thought for big Deane Richards who passed away a few yrs later,RIP big man xx
This was the season we got Relegated from the second tier of The Football Pyramid, as we got there in 1991 ... the best day in my life as a Tranmere Rovers supporter. All through that season we were in and around the relegation zone as our League form was Hopeless !!!. Do Not get me wrong, I Loved those Cup wins But we lost our Focus and lost our Second Division Status. Had we used that fighting spirit in League matches we would have survived... I learnt a harsh lesson that season, its very simple ... "League Points Come First, Cup Games Come Second" I have NEVER wavered in my outlook from then on.
He started at his home town club Tranmere Rovers in Birkenhead, and now he has come home again to rebuild us ... I remembered him then, and I am glad to see him back again!.
Nick Henry proved he was boss for John Aldridge's Tranmere Rovers men with a leaping volley that hit the back of the net like a hard boxer's punch!. From Joe. X
Bitter sweet memories of the Crewe game ... I was locked out, driving back to Liverpool listening to it on Radio Merseyside. I will NEVER forget Bolton at Wembley ... I am NOT ashamed to say I cried with what we went through in the early 80s and pride at what we did on that Wonderful day!.
That night when we beat Exeter City 1-0 (God I Hated that Everton Like Kit) I had No Idea what lay before us in the coming years ... The Following season we reverted back to all White (Enkey kit) I still think that was our BEST KIT. Our manager of the 1960s Dave Russell said "everton are blue, liverpool are red and Tranmere are White" ... God Bless him, he passed in June 2000
commented 10 years ago but i'll add now. Barnes accused the club of racism..the same people who hired him, sacked him. his record was shocking, he was hired because he was John Barnes , not his colour and when he went , our physio , Les Parry took over and kept us up...for 3 years.. he left management and now works sports science for Man Utd. My point being, Banes was a legend of a player, terrible management wise everywhere he's been and it's his bollocks of using racism as a reason for his own failure that contributes to black people not getting jobs. why hire someone who if they fail, blame racism? who needs that?? he's a disgrace.. possibly the worst manager Tranmere have had and McAteer is just an idiot
