Nice... whether hiking up trails or climbing the rock face, a goal is a goal, and with every goal comes the desire to find and beat the next. Try some indoor rock climbing for a doable and recordable challenge and reward!
I find this journey very relatable. I started cross country my freshman year of hs and showed up to the first practice not being able to run a mile. The next year I was able to break 20 mins (19:49) for the 5k. I have been injured since I was able to break 20. I'm still getting back on my feet as it was multiple injuries.
Yeah it’s tough and sorry to hear about your injuries. I wish you a speedy recovery and to get back to as strong as you were. Hopefully we both can. Just gotta keep pushing and heal correctly.
Hey brotha! We are all routing for you! I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I recommend saving the static stretches for after your activity. Dynamic stretches before your run are crucial to improving muscle activation and reducing risk of injury. Have your PT show you some if they haven’t already and ask about them performing a running analysis to further reduce risk of injury and help with energy conservation!
here’s something that is really good for knee pain and has pretty much transformed my running ability and just quality of life because my knees hurt so bad. if you have access to a pool or anything like that, go to the shallow end and squat down until the water is about neck height and start walking backwards and do laps around the shallow end for about 10 minutes. you should feel the burn in your quads right above your knee and it builds knee strength and increases stability in your legs and if you do it everyday for a week or two it should reduce if not completely clear your knee pain. hope this helps
keep going my man. im overweight too, and running for a month now too. im getting better every week. gonna follow you to see u succeed <3 greeting from germany
