I run 25 Commander decks but my favorite deck is auntie blyte, it’s unique and makes the game fast. Also punching myself in the face as hard as I can just gets fun reactions from any table. “I’m gona lightning bolt my face.”
Are there ways in golgari that j can add other types of counters? There are flying counters indestructible counters shield counters there are other counters besides +1+1 counters
Idk man, I don't think I'm cut out for playing MTG other than building decks. I built a monoblack deck using ONLY cards that remind me of Silent Hill in one form or another, and I just know I'd get dogged on if I tried to play it against other people. Also, the current commander of that deck is Whisper, Blood Liturgist.
I re-sparked my passion for avid deckbuilding by doing two things: 1. Make decks using cards ONLY from MY OWN collection. This will lead you to finding cards that never see the light of day, but in the world of commander, I genuinely believe anything can be playable. Very fun to bust out stuff you dont see every day, but it still holds up pretty well 2. Build "what if" ideas. I'm talking like baffling "what if" ideas. Two noteable ones I've done: An Esika + Umori companion deck where I run all creatures, amonst them being EVERY legndary "partner with" creature. A Yennet deck where I run Grozoth alongside like 25, 9-cmc cards, and my only non-odd cmc card in the deck is Omniscience. A bit more goofy, but pretty fun.
I made a Jodah, Dragonspeaker. No generic legends goodstuff. Nope, Jodah is channeling his inner Sarkhan and it's a bunch of legendary dragons! I actually built Otharri, but made it Rebel tribal. Bunch of Rebels in case my tokens get dealt with. Otharri lives in the graveyard constantly on purpose because most of my creatures are freaking Rebels! Other fun commanders I've made...Rigo Streetwqise Mentor, Kemba Kha Enduring, Imskir Iron-Eater, Sophia Dogged Detective, Danny Pink, Nashi Moon Sage's Scion, Trelessara. To name a few. Great vid!
I love Molimo, but since Lumra came out with Bloomburrow, Molimo is just purely power crept imo. Trample sources are already abundant in my deck, so having Reach and Vigilance on top of Trample with a one less mana cost and an even stronger effect just seems like a no brainer. I did however, keep Molimo in my deck as a creature.
@@joedoe7572white used to constanly get damage reduction/prevention cards like healing salve and Holy day. Black also has "Darkness" for their version of fog.
That is true. My decktechs are typically lower production quality. I spend a lot of time on my magic documentaries. I’m working on one right now on how to cheat in MTG
so im only at your mono black build here, you basically said "no more generic commanders" then too an interesting deck and just filled it with generic and powerful cards we see in every mono black deck?
6 out of 10 of my decks are in the top 100 of EDHrec. But I’d probably say one of my favorites is Eleventh Doctor/Amy Pond (EDHrec #1243) time counter combat trick deck. (Putting double strike on them is a godsend for combat damage triggers) I like it because it’s general goal is to cheat out big spells through suspend, and that opens up my options to a bunch of under used spells that are typically bad for their mana cost, or even creatures whose only flaw is lacking haste. Like Medomai the Ageless, Sphinx Ambassador, and Bladegriff Prototype are all cool creatures, but they require getting to do combat damage. But if I cast them off suspend, they gain haste and I get their cool super splashy effect the same turn
I love playing zombies since it was the deck that got me into magic to begin with. However after the Wilhelt precon released and I sat in a game against someone playing about 80% of my (non-wilhelt) deck, I took out all of the popular zombies and replaced them with really old and unique zombies that might seem jank at first. But honestly the uniqueness of it makes the deck so much more fun to play. Uniqueness is a very important factor in enjoying your own deck and I think everyone should have at least one deck that is different from everything and everyone else. Building a deck without edhrec (or using it to know what Not to include) can actually lead to some really great decks.
@@LVMTG Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis. He helps you ramp and draw into big spells and also helps your opponents develop. And after the opponent has put their biggest and best creatures into play with things like Braids, you scrambleverse or Thieves auction and steal there stuff.
My favorite deck is my mono white Abdel+Far Traveler pairing. It's a blink deck where I play tons of low mana artifacts and creatures early on to draw cards, gain life or make treasure tokens. I love Abdel because it "protects" my board by exiling it under itself and if they ever want to get rid of him, I get so much value off it. He also makes blockers for days, but what I love the most is his combo potential. I have a lot of "Fiend Hunter" cards that can exile a creature until it leaves the battlefield and if you have 3 of them, you can create a loop to have infinite ETBs and then I have plenty of ways of winning (infinite life with Soul Sisters cards, infinite damage by venturing in The Lost Mine of Pendelver or just infinite creatures with Abdel) It's really fun to play and the color restriction made for a really fun and budget brew
I’m working on building an upgraded Bello, Bard of the Brambles deck. It just scratches an itch for interactive big stompy with odd jank mechanics that also can be really strong. I do also have the Ur Dragon deck, but I’ve owned the precon since it was released. Cause it also scratches an itch for big stompy, and dragons are cool.
Otharri seems like a decent enough commander(for this power scale). It's a little soft for its mana cost but its the type of effect that snowballs pretty hard, and you can run other cards that boost your tokens and experience counters easily enough. Maybe not as much as some other commanders, but there seems room for pain in each game. I would say your not likely to win any politics when your running it due to the potential for escalation but that's every aggro decks bane in EDH.
"look at the top commanders, how many of these helm your decks?" None until rank 14: Gishath. Of the top 100: 4 commanders, of which 2 are pre-cons Think I can safely say I live for the jank.
Brutha I hear you, and understand the pain. Have already been there and been doin that, I pull up to the function with a mono-red clone deck helmed by Dong Zhou. Gotta say, am going to be extremely dissappointed if Duskmorne fails to drop some new shades for my Ihsan's deck tho.
I would be impressed but you basically just took a mid commander but then stuck the top tier meta shit into your deck which is like taking a meta deck list then replacing one card. idk would have been cooler to see cheaper and less played alternatives to some of these cards you showed to support the deck.
