J PRINE had always wrote songs with his trademark lyrics. I remember listening to kris kristofferson . [Jesus was a Capricorn]John PRINE wrote it for him
I wish I was alive to see the next "Bang"... The one that will wipe us out of this planet. The dinosaurs already had their shot (Unintentional joke), now it's the humans' turn.
“It will pause and start to go the other way” not “it will cause the stars to go the other way”. That’s what the Big Bang theory is. The universe is expanding and will eventually stop and collapse inward
You found the great John Prine you lucky person! Enjoy every single one of his songs. Have no regrets. I couldn’t think of a better treasure to find at any time in your life.
This song makes me think it's about a person who wants to be alone but realizes that he or she can't be alone because whether they want or not, there are others who exist. As long as they exist they can't be truly alone. Also, there's someone who wants them to change. Whether they change or not that person will always complain.
Sweet mellow song, but after listening to the lyrics, I think it’s a message for a potential love affair. Also, it could be for an innocent love affair incase it doesn’t work out, there will be no shame in both cases!
I weep with joy every time I hear this song. To me it not only represents everything that was good from my childhood and has since been lost, but everything good that I have gained in later adulthood. Thank you, John Prine. May that Angel From Montgomery watch over you as you rest
Goddamn this dusty room This hazy afternoon I'm breathing in this silence Like never before This feelin' that I get This one last cigarette As I lay awake And wait for you to come through the door Oh maybe, maybe, maybe I can share it with you I behave, I behave, I behave So I can share it with you You were not alone Dear loneliness You forgot But I remember this Oh stranger, stranger Stranger things have happened, I know I am not alone Dear loneliness I forgot That I remember this Oh stranger, stranger Stranger things have happened, I know Oh, oh Oh, oh We'll dream about somewhere Our smoke will fill the air As I lay awake and wait For you to walk out that door I can change, I can change, I can change But who do you want me to be? I'm the same, I'm the same, I'm the same Oh, do you want me to be? You were not alone Dear loneliness You forgot But I remember this Oh, stranger, stranger Stranger things have happened, I know Oh, oh Oh, oh I'm not alone Dear loneliness I forgot That I remember this You were not alone Dear loneliness You forgot But I remember this Oh, stranger, stranger Stranger things have happened, I know I'm not alone Dear loneliness I forgot That I remember this Oh stranger, stranger Stranger things have happened, I know Oh, oh Oh, oh
This song stopped me in m y tracks immediately while watching reruns of My Name is Earl. Simply and Powerful. Had to look the song up. Never heard this song until now. May 27, 2022
Me too, my friend. It's such a simple and innocent song, yet it strikes straight in my heart. I've never heard a song that makes me react the way this one does.
I hope that you know a lot more about the great John Prine since you were so lucky to be directed here in 2022. He was, in my opinion, no, in fact, the greatest entertainer ever!!! There are hundreds of his other songs that are just as good.
