Thank you for visiting. I created this channel because I believe that reading is one of the most important things you can do with your children. These videos can be used as a supplement to reading at home and in the classroom. I strive to create a safe and educational space for both parents and teachers alike while also trying to create the most entertaining read alouds out there.

I am a father to a daughter and twin boys and have a passion for all things related to books and reading. As you can imagine, I enjoy reading out loud using silly voices too! I am also the creator of Book League, the reading tracker app used by students and adults alike, which can be found at www.bookleague.app. Please subscribe and share with others to help me with my mission.

Authors, email me at Rich@bookleague.app.

I have to say your channel has become number one with myself and 6 year old daughter. It started with the Elephant and Piggie books. She laughs so hard reading along and loves all your added sound effects! We visit your channel in the A.M. getting ready and at bedtime. Thank you for what you do and the smiles you give my daughter:) She has one request, if you could do Harold and Hog Pretend for Real and the Unlimited Squirrels series. You are amazing at what you do and we thank you!💜

Wow! This is the best comment. Thank you so much for taking the time to write it. What is your daughter’s name? Tell her thank you so much for watching and to never stop reading. I’ll put those books on my list for her.

My 6 year old son loves your channel. We look for new books that you have read every night at bedtime. I would suggest pig the pug books. The other channels read aloud of the pig the pig books are kind of boring. Keep up the great work. Thanks so much

Thank you for the feedback! Tell your son, thank you for listening. I love Pig The Pug, however, the one video that I did was taken down almost immediately by scholastic. They told me I could only post their books if they aren’t shown in the UK and I haven’t been able to figure out how to do that. I’m not sure why these other channels haven’t had theirs taken down yet, but if I figure it out, I’ll definitely start posting those.

We love your stories! We like reading along with them. I even get in trouble sometimes for "not reading it right" (ie, not reading it the way you do). Can you please read Chicken Little as retold by Steven Kellogg? Or Another Monster at the End of This Book.

Thank you for the comment and for watching! Sorry for getting you in trouble 😂. I’ll put those on the list. How old are your kids and what are their names. You can email me this at rich@bookleague.app if you’d rather do that.

@@BookLeagueStorytime No worries. If anything, it has helped me to become more animated when I read to them! It's funny how self conscious you can feel in front of your own kids, but it turns out they love it! Jimmy is 4, and Ryan is 11, and then we have a new bouncing babe, Sophia. I actually discovered your page while we were in the delivery room and they were bored. Now we've watched all of them at least once! The Jasper Rabbit "Creepy" books and Dragons Love Tacos are their favorites. I'm not huge on screen time, but this is something I don't mind them getting glued to for a while!

@@thepocketthing that’s awesome. I am the same about screen time with my kids. And I am not a fan of a lot of the content on RU-vid made for kids. I figure if this channel can show how cool reading is, maybe it will inspire some kids to read more. Thanks again for the support, I’ll create a video for them at some point and give them a shout out. I’ll let you know when I post the video.

Hi. An illustrator from Slovenia here. First stumbled upon your channel and I can confirm that you are great at reading the story aloud. Maybe this is a bit of a random question, but since it's an open round of comments - is everyone just allowed to read picture books online and show their content- how does that work with copyright? I love listening to rare old music on RU-vid and was thinking of making a channel where I would hand-pick interesting songs and show snippets of them- but I imagined RU-vid would eventually ban me, due to copyright reasons. I love the fact one can see and listen to picture books online, I just always wondered if that is generally allowed or do you need to inform authors whose books you then read? I also have to say I am impressed with how awesome the books presented are. Keep on the good work.

Great question. The two definite ways you can do read alouds is if you have permission or if it’s in the public domain. If not, I would look up Fair Use. Fair Use is grey though and can be interpreted differently, so it’s tough to navigate. Bottom line is if the publisher wants a video taken down, it’s tough to argue. As far as music is concerned, it’s much more cut and dry. RU-vid has an algorithm that detects the song as soon as you upload a video it and determines if someone owns the copyright. If they do, depending upon how long the song is in your video, you either have to share revenue or the copyright holder takes all of it. If the music you are trying to post is in the public domain (typically anything published prior to 1927) then you are in the clear. What kind of illustration do you do?

Thank you! Thank you! You are great at this. We love your channel. You break down the stories perfectly. Please never stop. We quite often run out and buy the book after we hear you read it. My kids love your compilation of Jony Jory's Sour Grape, Couch Potato, and the whole set. My kids also can't stop watching Dragons Love Tacos. Lets be honest. They love all of them all. Your amazing! My kids weren't super excited about books but with your channel they are falling in love with books more everyday. We are even doing mini book studies with crafts and activities. Your videos are in the center of the event! Thank you!

Wow! I literally have tears in my eyes. This is the best comment ever! Other than loving doing this, this is the impact I was hoping to have. Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to post this comment. I really need to show this comment to Harper Collins because they made me take down most of the food group videos. My food group compilation had 2.3M views in like 5 months, that was really hard pressing delete on that one. How old are your kids?

They see it as as negative, that their book is being put out there for free so nobody needs to buy it. But there are hundreds of those videos out there so I’m not sure why they targeted me. I’ll figure it out though. I have a link to my Amazon store in the description where you can buy the books too and at least I get a tiny cut. 😆 Regardless though, thanks again for the comment. Your kids are very close in age to mine. Do your kids have any books they would like to see me do in the future?

Love having a male role model reading. Books read aloud are a crutch for when I do solo bedtime when my spouse is traveling for work. A playlist with more “mellow” books, or those without shrill or high energy voices would be great… also if the video length is over 8 minutes, I’ll play at 1.5x speed since we barter with youtube time and chores, which can mess with ambient music.
@BookLeagueStorytime

I’ll create a bed time playlist. Do you have any books you like for bed time? That makes sense on speeding it up, I’m a huge proponent of speeding up RU-vid, audible etc. to save time but never thought about it from the music side of things. Thank you for the input and thanks for watching!
