You either love the pixies or just dont get them. Apparently the lyrics are nonsensical.. no real meaning .. but it doesn’t matter. They formed at Umass Amherst (a western Massachusetts state university.. a known party school (check out the song “Umass” ) I had the amazing experience of seeing them this past summer with my 21year old daughter (who goes to Umass) .. it was an amazing inter generational experience
This band travelled Europe and sold out venues. Also sold out venues in the US, but couldn’t get radio play there. In Canada we knew they were iconic and didn’t mind keeping them to ourselves.
The Edge said years later , that when Bono left the stage, it was so high , they didnt know where he was, what he was doing , heard the crowd, and was terrified and confused, that Bono might be hurt, but kept playing. ..❤
2nd best Live performance from early in the day at Live Aid, next to Queen. While U2 In 85 , was big in Europe, and had a cult following in the US..this performance, announced U2 to the World. Next album Joshua Tree..and the rest is History. Imagine them at 11am at the beginning of 12 hour Live Aid show. I was 15 , a farm kid , and had permission to take living room TV and watch .chills then , chills now at 54.
28:38 I love how Artie shut down Robbin. Howard at least is somewhat entertaining but she is just the most arrogant douche who contributes nothing but tries to act like sone authority
that was straight up hard rock not blues rock don't diminish or degrade that hard driving sound , that was the intended effort to show the world where "Rock and Roll" originated but not accepted the only difference was the color of the skin, would anyone classify Jimmy Hendrix music as "R & B ", no, Funkadelic was originated as a rock band not blues band because they happened to be black , Sly & The Family Stone was not considered an R & B band even though they were a Black band, so stop putting black music in a box
James Johnson and Terry Edwards are from the outstanding Gallon Drunk some of the sweetest and sweaty gigs of my life and really nice guys plus the glory of Mick Harvey also a really nice chap
I've always loved that song, since it came out, really. I am however, a bit ashamed to admit that I'd actually forgotten about it's existence until just now... Thanks, man. If you're interested, I believe that there's a long version, something like 10-12 minutes, with that instrumental break lasting much longer, going deeper in that vibe...
I am a gay Canadian and she does this thing that we all do about celebration or things like that....especially at Christmas or such like....there is a little bit more to give even if it the last bit of our love, and Leonard Cohen describes it perfectly.. there is a little bit more love......I don't know if I've describing it well but she had to come back after she smashed it...just to let you know that it wasn't all about her.
@@Roryreacts Yes, extremists, may be looking looking for people to capitulate to their extremist values, but the average person is just looking for equality. A man isn't looking for a woman to be subservient, but would like equality & equal respect.
Vinnie was(is) a drum technician for sure. I saw a video of Steve Vai reminiscing about Vinnie's reading chops: Playing some incredibly difficult Zappa chart; turning the page over while eating a sandwich and still keeping time. Apparently Zappa just shook his head and walked away. Good reaction.
that look you got there .. is .. me in 1977 first listening to Roy ,, me in emotional heaven floating .. listening to Roy on loop ,, mind blown ,, grin ear from ear , shivers ,, so heavenly ,,
