All things Bird Dogs and Fly Fishing, we are addicted to chasing wild birds and training bird dogs to pursue the entire upland experience. The majority of our videos are in North Central PA and Southern NY but we take a few trips from year to year to chase wild birds in other state.
It takes a lot of escouting and year round work other than the quiet period but there’s birds to be found if you’re willing to put the work in and have the dogs that can handle grouse.
all but 1 of the chickens you shot were females. Females have pinnates too. Theirs are 3/4 inch long Males 2 inches. Easiest way to sex them is females have barred tails. Mails dont have any barring...solid brown
I agree with what you said about younger guys not wanting to put the time in I love grouse hunting and I love the Echols season me and my dog and maybe a buddy but mostly just me and my dog I had a awesome year and learned a lot grouse hunting you understand a lot more and find other things like good deer spots and good views good predators spots and good memories love the videos¡¡¡
Thanks man it’s a great way to get outdoors and is truly a sport I feel I will never be able to truly master. There are so many variables that can change on you from day to day that it’s difficult to master.
I get what your description is trying to say but....any broke dog will adapt to species. I know ruffed grouse are VERY particular in how a dog approaches them and you have to have a dog that's extremely cautious in the woods, but you can same the same for chukar/pheasant desert quail. It's really fun to watch an experienced dog learn a new species. I do think you might be right in that...if your dog grew up on forest grouse, it might make less mistakes on other species compared to the opposite. But a highly experienced chukar/pheasant dog is something to marvel over!
Awesome job what Part of Kansas are you in? My son's mother-in-law owns Land in louray I live in Pennsylvania. He keeps trying to get me to come out. I don't know if the pronunciation of that is right but it's luray I'm not sure if I spelled it right
OMG what an awesome day! "Piles of birds" indeed! Our grouse season in Vermont ended yesterday and it will be a long 9 month wait for next season. Thanks so much for your great content - it inspires me to get out into the uplands as much as possible. Happy New Year!
Nice cover. 5 birds in one day !!! That doesn’t happen very often. You guys moved more birds in one than we did on a three day hunt in northern Michigan. Love your potter county Pa vids. We had a deer camp just west of Galeton. Grouse hunted a few times there. Thanks for taking me along. Have a great new years. Thanks Wayne in Ohio.
Whatta. Hunt... the. Thing. On. My. Mind. Now. Is. An. Area. With. Hungarians...bobwhites....Prarie chickens.... sharptails...and. ringnecks.. that. Can. Be. A. Hell. Of. A. Day.....
Enjoyed the video. Subbed after I saw your hunt from RGS PA Wilds. Grew up near there and just learned about it as I'm getting back into the upland scene. Daydreaming of trips like this. Public or did you hunt private? Trying to gauge my expectations.
What GENERAL county were you hunting in. Got 30 years I hunted in Still water near Big Moose NY. Best time of my life. Wish I could get back there. Oh, very good video. Thank you. Cheers.
Awww I love that you are able to enjoy the sport with your Dad. Enjoy those moments. They go by so quickly. I lost my Dad two years ago to a tragic farming accident. I wish I had him for one more day. ❤
The court found that the Game Commission was allowed to use cameras on the clubs' property without a warrant because of legislation that dates back to the 1920's. Now the clubs' lawyers plan to appeal. The Institute for Justice has been representing the Punxsutawney and Pitch Pine Hunting Clubs since December of 2021
Always love your video's! You do a fantastic job getting on birds here in NY! Me not so much being that i am north on Lake Ontario. If you could pick one type of cover to find birds what would it be? Im extremely new this game and have a hard time trying to figure out where these birds are as most video's out there are either west or east of us.
