Fletch's comment was not insulting at all. It's just a very obvious remark. Robert is ok performing 3 hours standing still, singing and playing guitar, Dave is ok singing and dancing around the stage, just different types of performing and also totally different types of songs. And if you know a little bit about DM you'll know why Dave moves around so much. He was really shy and uncomfortable in the beginning, just look at their 80-82 performances. People talking shit about Dave have no idea about the mockery and the insults he got from the press when he was just 18-19 years old. So yeah, Dave, just like Robert, can do whatever he wants on stage. And he's good at it. Just watch their 101 concert
I love both bands! I first saw The Cure in 1985 and Depeche Mode in 1986. Growing up in the eighties was awesome because of all the new wave, punk, post-punk, and indie bands.
DM have written some great songs, so have simple minds and other bands. I love their music however, 17 seconds, faith and pornography are on a different level of creativity and emotion. Robert, Lol and Simon wrote my fav songs of ALL time.
Omfg what a band name. You guys are incredible. But i hope youre also making your own music, no band who can play interpol as good as this should not not be making music. You guys are AMAZING. ❤
Robert smith doesn’t need to move around to entertain, he can mesmerise thousands of people stood in one spot for 3 hours. Everything about him is totally unique. He just has to be him. Moving or not. Kind of says it all really.
That was a VERY Hooky mistake, too, ha ha! (In fact I think I have a bootleg where that exact same thing happens!!) = Keeping the authenticity up. 😉 Good werk!
Rosemary Heaven restores you in life You're coming with me Through the aging, the fearing, the strife It's the smiling on the package It's the faces in the sand It's the thought that moves you upwards Embracing me with two hands Right will take you places Yeah, maybe to the beach When your friends they do come crying Tell them now your pleasure's set upon slow release Hey, wait Great smile Sensitive to fate, not denial But hey, who's on trial? It took a life span with no cell mate The long way back Sandy, why can't we look the other way? He speaks about travel Yeah, we think about the land We smart like all peoples Feeling real tan I could take you places Do you need a new man? Wipe the pollen from the faces Make revision to a dream while you wait in the van Hey, wait Great smile Sensitive to fate, not denial But hey, who's on trial? It took a life span with no cell mate By the long way back Sandy, why can't we look the other way? You're weightless, you are exotic You need something for which to care Sandy, why can't we look the other way? Leave some shards under the belly Lay some grease inside my hand It's a sentimental jury And the makings of a good plan You've come to love me lightly Yeah, you come to hold me tight Is this motion ever lasting Or just shutters pass through the night? Rosemary, oh, heaven restores you in life I spent a life span with no cell mate The long way back Sandy, why can't we look the other way? You're weightless, semi erotic You need someone to take you there Sandy, why can't we look the other way? Why can't we just play the other game? Why can't we just look the other way?
I’ll take Robert Smith and The Cure any day! I’m not there to watch someone dance, I’m there for the music and nobody can write lyrics as good as Robert Smith, plus his voice is so beautiful and unique I’d stand there for 24hrs watching The Cure play and I wouldn’t tire of it!
I can’t stand Andrew Fletcher. I was a huge fan of the work that Alan Wilder did for DM . I fact I stopped listening to them after he left. This guy doesn’t contribute artistically but for some reason he acts like he is the leader of the band .
A massive fan of both the cure and depeche mode, but if forced to choose...there is nothing inauthentic about robert smith. Ive been to multiple shows by the cure where they perform north of 2 hours....and the amount of movement he did on stage did not diminish my experience.
