I love how Valka loved her son, even leaving to keep him safe from her at the time, 'radical ideas'. But yeah, Hiccup most definitely took after both his parents, taking after his mum was just the most obvious part. Probably why Stoick got so frustrated at him at times. He lost his wife, and was terrified to lose Hiccup too.
