We went to this 15+ years ago. That hike was a bit steep. If you are lucky enough to be able to drive that top rode. Stop at the first drive thru tree. You will not be disappointed. I think the earliest year carved on the inside was 1863 if I remember right. Btw, this tree is a walk thru tree only. It was struck by lightning in the 30's. It is not near a rode its on top of a mountion which makes it even more amazing that wagons went thru it.
