Hi all, started flying rc helis in 2013 with no previous experience. Learned on my own with my only support coming from joining helifreak.com. I post these videos to share my love of flying rc helis.
Hey bud, i just received the Kraken 580 and havent even opened it. I was thinking about the kraken 700s and was wondering your thoughts on the 2. Other then the obvious with size and 12s and 6s, which do you prefer and any major differences? Thanks
You will love the 580 it’s a bit more agile than the 700s and a real beast when 12s powered which mine is. The 580 is easier to transport due to its size. You could fly the 580 as a 600 class heli if you put 600mm main blades on it which I did but prefer flying it with rotortech 580 ultimates that made the heli faster n more aggressive. The 700s is quite a bit larger and flys way bigger and can be intimidating at first if not use to flying 700 size helis. In my opinion it needs a big motor and esc combo if you want to fly it as high performance faster heli, I have the Xnova XTAREQ motor paired with a Hobbywing 200a esc that offers all the power you would ever need. It has a huge presence in the air when flying 716mm blades and sounds great! It needs a pair of 5000mah batteries to get max performance so you need a bigger charging system, I have 2 ISDT K4 chargers that can charge 2 5000mah lipos each in a half hour. A bit harder to transport due to its large size. If you want a big heli the 700s is it and will be the flagship in anyones hanger!
Hi moonmullins, I’m flying st 1 and st 2 a pitch curve of 30-40-50-75-100% and normal mode 40-45-50-75-100% all 3 at 12.5 degrees of pitch…hope this helps and good luck on your maiden flight!
Hey great! Had my Specter 700 out today and my 550 and, I was wondering why I haven’t seen you fly yours in a while. Great day out for you nice flight. Hammered that takeoff lol nice
Hi Walking, definitely love my Align helis they fly great and are the best bang for the buck helis around. Have been flying HRB lipos for over 3 years …they charge n balance great and I highly recommend them
Awesome flight friend, that thing is zippy. :) Gonna start building the Tron 5.5 Gemini Friday, waiting on a couple parts and it's killing me having to wait to start. 😁😁
15 years ago, all I ever wanted was more align helicopters. I've been having so many issues with my 450, I won't even consider align anymore. There are so many options now anyway
Hi huevos, haven’t had any issues with the align helis I fly, from the 470l to my TB70 they are as good quality as SAB / XLpower and have many flights on them and will buy more kits in the future.
@@helithunder56 man, I had an old flybared 450 that was mostly great. But this flybarless has been kicking my ass. I'm about to just replace the entire tail assembly because it's been binds no matter what I do
Hi Mike, you just need to fly as often as you can and when you’re ready learn how to fly circles, a simulator will definitely help. I have 30 plus helis ready to fly.
Hi Andy, my specter is flying 12s 5000mah x2 packs. I use normal mode for taking off and landing and fly in stunt 1 at 88% flat throttle which gives me 3.30 to 4 minutes of flight time
Great flight, I finally have my Align T15. It is very powerful but i need to setup the helicopter to fly it the way I feel more comfortable. It feels very jumpy and it drifts It feels very responsive, I need to add more Expo and better pitch control.
Hi micro, you just need to get used to flying it every heli flys differently. I like around 20% expo in all my helis. You could try a lower head speed and reduce travel to 90% ( dual rates ) will help tame it. Hope you get it tuned to your liking pretty soon….it’s a pretty sweet flying heli when you get it setup to fly the way you want.
Hi Huevos, very nice kit to build with zero assembly issues, fit n Finnish is spot on and one of the best tail mechanics / setup of all the helis I’ve built so far…flys awesome!
@@helithunder56 I still have no idea what 700 I'm going to choose when the time comes but this one is a strong contender. I like the ak700 too, because it's cheap
no need to be in a hurry the heli you’re flying now is a good size to learn forward flight on…if still trying to learn all 4 orientations nose in will come natural once you start flying circles. A 700 class heli is a flying lawn mower that can cause serious damage and kill you if not ready for that size of machine…. I don’t know where you’re at in your progression but knowing how to fly will make your first 700 class heli a much more enjoyable experience!
Hi micro, when I watch other peoples flight videos it always makes me want to fly also… hang in there you will have your new heli soon, the T15 will be well worth the wait!
Hedanksmemus. The numbers are pretty much the same on both motors but the Xnova motor will give a bit more power and run cooler. I have a Xnova TAREQ EDITION motor in this heli now and the XTS series are supposedly not too far behind in power. When looking for a motor one of the numbers I look at is the watts the motor has ( 750 watts = 1hp ) peak power and continues power.
Great Flight buddy. That one seems to cook pretty good through the sky. I built my first 700 this weekend, the Raw Piuma. I am such a huge fan of SAB and i love the slow, big air, slow 3d stuff. My maiden was about an hour ago and she did great, was just a hover and small circles but was nervous as heck, my thumbs were shaking. My headspeed was at 1050 with 18t pinion and 115 tails(SAB Brand). HW 120A ESC Egodrift 4025 1050 kv Pulse 5300 6s Spirit gt fbl Torq mini servos on cyclic(used raw 580 mounts) and full size on tail. Receiver is just 1 SRXL2. Tried using DSMX sats with it but spirit doesnt allow them to mingle like IKON does. So gonna get another SRXL2 and just run those 2. Using the TX16S but can't seem to get a straight answer on a good small receiver. Next up after i recoup from all this spending will be a conversion to RAW 700 canopy and black skids. Thanks for all the great videos. Take care. -Mike
Hi kaidok, congrats on the successful maiden of your new Raw Piuma ( awesome heli ) sounds like you have great setup. I know how you feel when you lift off a new heli I still get kinda sick on maiden day there’s so much running thru your head on what terrifying thing could happen let alone lifting off your first 700 class heli…it’s a awesome achievement! Sorry I can’t help with your TX16S satellite options as I have no knowledge of the radio you’re using. Like to add one more thing welcome to the big leagues not many of us 700 pilots around
@@helithunder56 Thank you, and yes i too know that sick feeling. :) It's fine on the receiver i believe i have decided either on the RP3-H new one from RadioMaster(if i can figure how to wire it) or just running another SRXL2 for safety backup. Honestly and this is probably my ignorance but i'm not sure why i would need another reciever because been flying with one SRXL2 on 400 forever but hit the 700 and that's all i hear. I'm guessing it's mainly because of the destruction factor if it fails.
With any heli larger than a 380 class heli you need a reciever plus a satellite or 2 satellites for added diversity so you don’t lose control of your heli.
@@helithunder56 That explanation made more sense to me then what anyone else has said, their comment was mostly " it's just needed" lol! Thank ya. Have a great one.
Hi merlavery, I’m sure you’ll love the TB70 mine went together without issue. It’s a great looking / very rigid airframe and with the 850mx motor it’ll do anything want
This video makes me want to go and fly my helicopter. But I don’t have a helicopter. I just need to save more money and I will get Align T15. For now a I have 105 dollars.
No local flying clubs or flying fields near the closest is about a hour and a half away and don’t know any other rc pilots, have always flown my helis by myself.
no need to feel sorry for me flying alone….much prefer to fly by myself and it would just be too distracting to have someone else around. I live in the middle of corn country here in Iowa.
I actually like that canopy design. And no supports for the boom. Good looking heli. When im ready to take the jump to 700 size, I'm thinking this lr the Tron
Hi Huevos, this TB70 is a very well designed designed / looking heli at a great price if you go with the tron you will probably spend at least another 1000.00 dollars to get the heli in the air which is your choice. Align helis are the best bang for the buck machines around and am very happy with the ones I have
@@helithunder56 they're both 1650 haha. But I know align parts with be well available for a while. I'll probably end up with the Tron 5.5 and the tb70. But I'm a ways away from either at the moment anyway
i gave 1350.00 dollars for my super combo TB70 on a thanksgiving day sale from helidirect and you’re correct on parts availablity. Always a tuff decision on which heli to buy.
Hi Samsly, maybe if you fly like Tareq you might have a problem with the TBJ70 main gear…. Probably just the usual Align bashing that happens when a new model is released. Lots of videos showing pilots are quite happy flying the TB70. No issues with my new build, its a well designed heli and am quite happy with it.
My xk k110s helicópter tail motor isn’t working correctly because of all the flights the brushed motor is not very powerful to hold the helicopter. The trex T15 es a better helicopter because it has a brushless tail motor
Great flight, I really need a good quality helicopter. Xk and eachine brand it is not a good brand. I am thinking of buying an Align Trex T15 helicópter. Is the trex t15 a good helicopter do you recommend it ?
Hi Micro, the Align T15 is a great heli make sure to buy a few xtra main blades and swash to blade grip links which is usually what breaks in a crash if anything, tuff little heli that’s well built and flys pretty awesome…highly recommend it
Your channel has a lot of flight videos. Other channels don’t have a lot of flight videos. It amazing to see that you upload every single flight. Other pilots don’t upload every flight they make.
Hi Micro, while most heli pilots don’t post many flight videos I like sharing my videos to whoever wants to see a alternative to 3D smack flying and I’m quite amazed at how many watch them.
Hi kingfamily, the 550x was my first big heli and absolutely love flying it, the synergy rail 556mm blades really fly better than the stock align blades, more agile / improved tracking and faster overall… a good investment that I don’t think you would be disappointed in purchasing.
Great flight! That looks like a very beefy machine, very cool. Out of all the kits you have built, what would you say is the highest quality heli that you have/ or seen? Thank you!
Hi kaidok, probably the soXos strike 7.1… it’s well designed, a very rigid airframe, low vibration level and the easiest tail setup of all the kits I have assembled.flys best on the included 1st 690mm main blades,it’s a great precise flying heli and would highly recommend the kit.
@@helithunder56 Thank you. I just built the RAW 420 competition gonna maiden it tomorrow, well hover lol not much room where im at right now but even hovering and a small circle is pleasing to me. :) I was interested to hear your opinion on a quality kit. Thanks again for the info and the awesome flight videos.
Lots a guys very happy with the RAW 420, flying in tight quarters will help with precision control. Once you learn how to fly circles it really opens up your flight envelope what I do is just fly bigger circles simple stuff but very pleasing to me also!. As far as what heli kit I like best it’s really a personal choice and right now you can’t really buy a bad kit SAB / ALIGN / soXos / XLpower all great kits to build n fly!
@@helithunder56 Had to pop back on here since i just did the maiden. It did outstanding, not a wag(i have trouble in past with this) nothing. It was solid and felt so light in a hover. When i did a full collective pump it shot up very quick and no bog. I'm so happy right now i can chisel this dumb smile i'm wearing. Hace a great day! My setup: Pulse 2400 Torq servos TX16S-Spectrum SRXL2 Spirit GT(I love this FBL) RT blades Egodrift 3220 900kv-20t pinion HW 60a-i am moving to an 80a 12 degress of pitch at linear curve and 1800 to 1900 or so RPM :) :) :)
