Bought a set for the rear of my new Ram Classic because my hitch and spring bars are at home 1200km away and needed to tow trailer back home. Whilst there was 1/2 an inch clearance when the trailer was connected I felt them working on the road to reduce travel/bounce and help in cornering. They will stay installed forever even when the other hitch is used. Follow the instructions. Use dish soap to lube and once installed, I rotated them a quarter turn to make sure they were seated properly
Nothing right now as the front bump stops are now integral to the shock. This is new for ‘24. There are no frame mounted bump stops in the 4th gen Tacoma up front.
Looking at the GMRS15 there is no difference, for a standard 1500 versus the trail boss, so I fail to see the 1" spacer? Even the instructions are generic for all 1500 4x4s. Is the 1" spacer there for the standard models too, and if so, how does that make sense? I'm wanting to purchase these but also want them to be effective and fit properly.
Great question. 9 times out of 10 anyone without the Trail Boss or AT4 won't need the included 1 inch spacer. However, because those trim levels come with a lift from the factory we've included that 1 inch spacer so you can take full advantage of the Timbren SES kit regardless of trim level. Simply add it in if you need it.
Unfortunately our product replaces the factory bump stop. Toyota, however, didn't include a front bump stop on the new 4th gen Tacoma so there isn't anything we can do for the front suspension.
The Timbren SES kit sits roughly 1" away from making contact when you're not towing or hauling anything. Once you start carrying around extra weight or hook up a trailer your truck will sit down that 1" and then our kit kicks in and the progressive spring rate works to keep your truck riding smooth, eliminates sag, and keeps all 4 tires firmly, and more importantly, safely on the road.
Timbren is a great feeling suspension on my 4500 lb trailer and it handled very well on paved roads. I feel if installed properly would work as it should off road as it was designed. Unfortunately, the builder of my custom off grid toy hauler/camper in Wyoming, Symmetry Trailers, installed the wrong model for my trailer’s weight when stocked. A very dangerous mistake for us and the high speed blowouts we incurred at high speeds. And several tire replacements with less than 10,000 miles driven. The builder refused to remedy the situation, but Timbren was great with their customer service, they were able to help us with a new set of springs. At the moment we are getting a single axle installed for our $36,000 lemon lol, hopefully it remedies our dangerous driving situation.
I have both timbren and sumo springs.. timbrens on my 1500 are definitely stiffer and handle more overload applications, 4 sumos on my 36' camper to help with the sway and bumpy ride. The stiffer they are they more they handle the load, sumo compresses a lot compared to timbren so it can be a softer ride. Both of these have made it possible to tow such a large camper with a 1500 but your truck will take a beating even with all this tech. 1500 just not made for the application i was putting it through , upgraded to a 2500..keeping my old timbrens and moving to new truck..
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's good to hear your perspective and experience with both products. In the future, if you ever find your Timbren SES kit is too harsh, give our Customer Service team a shout. They can send you a softer Aeon® rubber spring and take out any harshness you're feeling. Thanks again for the great comment!
@@TimbrenIndustries I am moving the timbrens to the 2500 .. towing in a few weeks see how they perform ( as always they will do the job ) .. need front ones but price point slowing my purchase down ..
@@joealves5070 They will most definitely do the job 🦾. Sorry that the price is slowing down your purchase but it's the price of solid Canadian manufacturing and a product that's been designed, tested and backed by a Lifetime Warranty and 100 Day Money Back Guarantee. You get what you pay for.
@@TimbrenIndustries can u help ? I reached out to your website for the fitting . There’s an adapter for the timbren To fit the 2500 truck .. i have the spring already that I moved from 1500 but need the adapter so it fits my new truck .. they will not provide it for me .. bit silly.. can u help me out ?
@@TimbrenIndustries is that something that can be adjusted or does it have to be specified? You guys sent me a SES system for my Toyota 4Runner but it was not specified for a lift so I’m assuming it’s for stock ride height. I should receive it any day now and I’m hoping I can make it work.
You're absolutely right. We typically remove the tire to get better camera angles and also for some customers who like to have a little more room to work.
I’ve installed Timbren SES on my 2023 Ram 1500 Rebel GT, wow, it’s by far the best investment I’ve made to improve my towing experience. I’ve made a 1000km ride last week pulling a 6000 pound travel trailer, with 2 e-bike and bbq in the bed and I’ve never felt that confident about my setup.
@@TimbrenIndustries Thank you for that, just bought a set from etrailer ,theysaid they were out of stock for a week or so. They had sumos in stock. Made in USA. Canaderp or USA ,it's all good. I do not buy commie chineseum. I will just wait for yours . my northern brothers. Eh.
Our Timbren SES kit will slightly limit your suspension travel for any off-roading you're doing. Depending on how often you tow or haul vs. off-road, you may want to look into our Active Off-Road Bumpstops that are designed for off-road use.
@@TimbrenIndustriesAre all timbren same for all years on GMC Sierra 1500; like 1990 thru 2024; or is there different sizes for certain years mandatory.
You bet it will but you'll need to make sure you get the spacer kit along with your Timbren SES kit for proper fitment - timbren.com/products/spcrtortndr
Great question. Our kit doesn't actually provide any lift. It provides additional suspension support and performance when you are towing so that the vehicle won't squat which ultimately makes for a safer and more comfortable towing experience because all 4 tires are firmly planted on the road.
Our Timbren SES kits are designed with a progressive spring rate. Unlike the traditional air bag system with a static load rating determined by the psi applied. The progressive spring rate allows the SES kit to absorb road shocks and provide a much better ride when towing over stock.
Had airbags on my last truck. Just put these on my 21 GMC Sierra 1500 last week. They work good for not squatting your truck under heavy loads but the ride is terrible. It doesn't feel "progressive" at all. It's really bad on unmaintained country roads. Airbags are a pain with changing the PSI all the time but the ride quality is better. Thinking about removing the spacer to give me more travel and installing RAS to help smooth it out before the Timbrens make contact with the axle but that's another 500 bucks. Nothing's perfect I guess.
I dont see how you measure to pick the right one for my application. I have a 2008 GMC 2500 with a squat issue due to weight placement as my build has an overhang, its under the GVWR but dont know which kit to get. Do i get GMRTT35S or should i get GMRCK25S? how do I measure my truck to determine which one is the best fit.
