Hallo und herzlich willkommen! This channel has fun videos to help students learn German, through cartoons, real life scenarios and grammar explainers. Also for teachers of German who are looking for resources to use in their lessons. The videos can be used to introduce a topic, to learn key vocabulary and phrases related to different topics, for listening comprehension, and also to introduce and explain different grammatical structures. I'm a half German secondary school languages teacher based in the UK, trying to make languages exciting and engaging. Viel Spaß beim Lernen! Herr Reid
I am doing my German gcse next (yr 9) because I already speak German fluently and I will definitely mess this up and over/under complicate everything because I would never speak to anyone like that in Germany but this video really did help and I feel slightly prepared now! also do your notes have to be in English or can they be in German?
Glad it helped - I'm sure you'll do great especially with your background. Just a case of knowing what the mark scheme wants! Notes can be in English but it's better to do it in German because then you can just read off your notes without having to think on the spot as it's pre-prepared.
General conversation is worth half the speaking - focus on that. Know your tenses - past, present and future, and also giving your opinion and saying why using words like "weil".
Whichever theme you are discussing you have to stick to that theme strictly. After you have discussed your chosen theme for 2.5 - 2.5 mins then you have another discussion for the same amount of time on a surprise theme, which will be one of the other two themes.
You do need to extend your answers in the general conversation as much as you can to try and get all the variety of structures in that you can. But - you can prepare and memorise your answers to some common questions which helps a lot. Basically, make sure you can at least use three different tenses and try and give opinions and reasons as much as you can and you'll be fine.
This is so helpful Thankyou for making this video I have my German speaking exam tomorrow this is very helpful. Although I’m abit anxious as I chose theme 1 but I didn’t think of choosing my hardest theme 😅
Can you post on different ways you can extend sentences in general conversation?like examples of what to say and how it can be further extended. It would help a lot .
For the first question on the photocard, is it acceptable to just say 4 back-to-back clauses without joining them? Do the markers award complexity or just simply if you have given 4 clauses? For example would this be sufficient to access full marks on the 1st question on the photocard in the video or do I have to add complexity: Es gibt einen Strand, Es gibt viele Menschen, Es ist sonnig, Es gibt viele Gebäude
Hi Mariya, sure. Have you tried these videos which are focused on writing (90 word/150 word and structures)?
