Nice discussion video, Hannah! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I confess, though: I don't count these "Easter eggs" in MHM, TRT, and FIN as true Easter eggs like most fans do because it just feels like they don't fit with the ones that come later since those are LITERAL Easter eggs. But I'm not saying everyone is wrong; they can call them Easter eggs if they want, and I enjoyed listening to you talk about them. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I can't wait to hear your discussions about the other Easter eggs in this series!!! 😁😁😁
While Stay Tuned for Danger isn't one of my favorite games, I still enjoy it like I do Secrets Can Kill because I have so much nostalgia invested in them since I played them a lot as I grew up. I had noticed that these were the only games that had a LOT of those amazing hidden codes, clues, and messages that were more or less narrative of the story arcs, including subtle directions on how to solve the cases and the names of the culprits. Heck, even though these two games don't involve finding treasure like the next two games do, uncovering these codes felt like finding hidden treasure and gems all the same!!! 😁😁😁 Also, did you ever notice that SCK and STFD are the only games that have junior, senior, and master detective levels, but no tutorials? After STFD, all succeeding games would have only junior and senior detective levels (later amateur and master sleuth, respectively), and tutorials were offered from Message in a Haunted Mansion to Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon. Then the tutorials were replaced with the "How to Be a Detective" book featured from Danger by Design to Alibi in Ashes.
Calling all these phone numbers when I play Secrets Can Kill serve no purpose to solving the game, but it's still a fun extra I love to do. ❤ In fact, I have my own video of calling them, too. 😉
Secrets Can Kill isn't my favorite Nancy Drew game, but as the very first game in the series, there's definitely a lot of nostalgia invested in it by many fans, including me. 😁😄😉 When I would play it, I especially loved spotting all the hidden clues, codes, and messages that foreshadow important moments in the future, and point towards what the player needs to do next to solve the mystery. And of course, it has a great soundtrack, too. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I especially love the music played in the diner and library, the latter of which has a very mysterious, if not somewhat spooky, aura. Do you know about the unused rap from this game? The melody of it is still used during the credits, but the lyrics are not sung.
Like I said on your walkthrough, I LOVE the soundtrack of Message in a Haunted Mansion just like I love the one for Treasure in the Royal Tower! ❤ My favorite track is "Seance", and even though it's virtually the same melody as "Saloon", I like "Seance" a lot better because it has a more haunting, if somewhat sinister, aura to its melody. I also enjoy "Parlor" and "Entry/Hallway" because even though they sound a little less haunting than "Seance", they're still somewhat haunting to me because they are more fast-paced with their melodies. And "Danger"? Whoo, the spookiest track of all, both during the fire and when Louis tries to steal the gold! 😨 Did you notice they reused it at the end of The Phantom of Venice, when you chase down Helena? I recognized it right away when I first played VEN, and I thought it was cool to do! 😁
Message in a Haunted Mansion was not only the second Nancy Drew game I ever played, but it was the game that introduced me to the series because I watched my younger sister play it before I started playing Treasure in the Royal Tower. So I definitely have a lot of fond memories invested in this game as well, and like TRT, I love it pretty much everything about it, and that includes the soundtrack, the puzzles, the secret rooms/passageways, and the hunt for the missing gold!!! 😁😁😁 In fact, one of the reasons why TRT and MHM are among my favorite games is because they are history mysteries that involve finding hidden treasure or valuables, and these games' treasures were the most valuable riches of all: gold in MHM and a diamond in TRT! 😁😄 These games also contain some of the best secret passageways in the whole series, and I think MHM was really the first game to feature secret rooms or passageways, which continued in many of its successors. Some only had one while others had multiple, and their importance to the games' plots always differed, but I always particularly enjoyed the games that had hidden, secret passages or rooms where you would uncover more secrets. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 But MHM is also one of my favorite games because of its spooky atmosphere! 😨😰😱 Even after playing it for over 20 years, I still get creeped out by Abby's seance and some of these hauntings, most especially the inflating chair, moving phoenix head, moving curtains (along with that accompanying noise!), and blinking portrait! 😨😨😨 I'm very much a skeptic in real life, but these kinds of hauntings and some of the eerie sound effects heard have made me wonder if the Golden Gardenia truly IS haunted!!! 😱😱😱
Terrific review for Treasure in the Royal Tower, Hannah! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I agree it's very re-playable and holds up well, even after 20 years. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Yes, I agree that four characters per game is the perfect fit. That's the average number in the series, and it's rare for the series to have more or less than that. I know that Ransom of the Seven Ships got a lot of criticism for a lack of other suspects, and I definitely agree that's one thing that could have made it better. Now while Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake has only three characters, it's still a very fun game. The fact that it has just three suspects is what helped make it easy for me to figure out the culprit before I solved it. I was always very curious why the memorial to Eleanor Wickford was never mentioned out loud by Nancy. As a result, yeah, it has lead to fans coming up with their own conclusions about it. And since you mention it, I have been wondering the same about Jacques and Isabelle. When you first meet him and you ask him when the wedding is, he gets flustered and quickly says "Uh...as soon as possible!" That has made me question whether he really loves her (since he's actually there in Wisconsin to find the medallion, not merely to find love) or if he's trying to get married quickly just so he won't be deported back to France. I had my suspicions about Lisa from the moment I opened her locker, not just since she carries fake IDs, but because she has a letter in Spanish...and she previously said she barely passed Spanish in high school!!! 😵😵😵 I'll always love TRT because it was my very first game. ❤ In fact, I like pretty much everything about it, so there isn't anything I would change if I had the chance. 😉
Oh Lord, I just LOVE the soundtrack in Treasure in the Royal Tower! ❤❤❤ My most favorite pieces are "Warm" and "Hallway" because I think they are the perfect kind of music to listen to when you're relaxing in front of a warm fire with a hot drink and sweet snack in the wintertime. In fact, I especially love to play TRT during the winter because of its own winter setting. 😉 I don't have a fireplace in my home, unfortunately, but these two tracks really make me want to visit the Wickford Castle lobby so I can put my feet up and relax in front of the fire. But I also love "Enchanted" because it's great music for exploring. "Somber", "Library", and "Garden" are good, too, because even though they are kind of melancholic in their melodies, I still find it very comforting to listen to them. 😊
@@staytunedformystery Yes, the soundtrack for TRT has always been a reason why I loved it so much, and for others, like MHM. 😁 I'll be leaving comments on your other soundtracks and playthroughs soon, and I hope you'll enjoy hearing what I say about them. 🥰
Ah, the nostalgic feels I get when I play the older Nancy Drew games and listen to the classic opening theme at the beginnings!!! ❤❤❤Treasure in the Royal Tower is no exception because it was the very first game I ever played and finished, so my fondest memories of these games are especially invested in this one. 🥰🥰🥰 Since first playing it, it has remained one of my most favorite games, and I love pretty much everything about it: the soundtrack, the puzzles, the secret tunnels and passageways, and the hunt for the long-missing diamond! 😁😁😁 I have been playing TRT for over 20 years by now that I have memorized practically every character line, action, and just what Nancy has to do to keep going forward. Heck, I feel I could play it in my sleep. 😆😆😆 Due to its winter setting, it's definitely one of those games I especially love to play in the winter, along with The White Wolf of Icicle Creek and Sea of Darkness. And since I'm a lover of adventure and exploring like Nancy, I know I would love to stay at a place like Wickford Castle in real life. Of course, I wouldn't have been able to do all the things Nancy does, such as sneaking around in an elevator shaft, but still, the places Nancy goes and the things that she is able to do in to solve a mystery feeds my love of exploring very well. I have come to feel like I'm part of the games themselves whenever I play them, and I never have a dull moment with them, especially TRT. 😉
Surprised Midnight made it here! Enjoyed listening so much! I've played a couple of these on my channel, but I'm excited to play more of these! Thank you!
Thank you so much! Haha I know, I put it as an honorable mention because the fall vibes themselves are just unmatched. I’ll definitely have to check out some of your streams!!
Okay where in the world is your intro music from because it triggered nostalgia! I love how you had the SIM in there and that his mood is happy! Clearly someone is no longer procrastinating.
Haha thank you! I know right, he seems to have turned over a new leaf! The intro song is from CUR, when you win the water fountain puzzle! (It’s called “Grenny Success” in the soundtrack files)
