Important note is to know the hardness of the stone you want to cut. You aren't going to get anything near a finished product if you pick ruby, for example. That stuff pretty much sands your sand paper as much as it gets sanded (because they are made from the same stuff).
RU-vid really stinks for finding and being recommended new gemstone channels. Once again, it was by sheer luck and having very specific search terms that I found your channel. For the algos!
Is there a tutorial book on Lapidary? Or is it gemstone polishing? out there? This was useful for Fluorite, but I have quartz, a ruby, I think I have two emeralds, some yellow-orange looking quartz, and the rest I'll have to consult with my book on crystals!
No hassle at the border, I suppose! I’m not surprised based on the existence of the nearby boat crossings, but before seeing that, I assumed the border was much more militarized. Was it different during the civil war? Can it change rapidly? Does it depend on where you are?

Thank you so much for providing such a lengthy discussion. My grandfather was involved in various businesses across the diamond/gems industry over decades - spanning the mining side, lapidary, industrial applications, etc. Dipping one's toe 'back' into this world, and reconnecting with one's early fascination with such things is very much helped along by watching videos like this. Much appreciated!
