I'm less than a mile from this and ride it and the paved trail most evenings. It's great to see the woods change with the seasons and watch the deer's lifecycle. I'm very fortunate to have this in my back yard.
Great part 4 if the video. Walked part of it yesterday. Stopped a Polyanna Brewing for lunch adjacent on the trail. Have done several bike & brew trips along the river.
I took a trip to Chicago 2 weeks ago and brought my bike. Every morning I biked this path. The most beautiful and amazing path I've ever ridden. It's a shame California doesn't have anything close to a path like this.
Great Vid!! Actually Years ago I used to take this path more than 20 times to Botanic Gardens from my old work @ Buffalo Grove. Now I go throughout Evanston, E Sheridan ,Wilmette, Tower Road =Glencoe, to LakeCook. Chicago, has done Great Work maintain their BikePaths.
What an adventurous ride, filled with challenges and beauty amongst other things(such as life) we just gotta keep going... this was very motivating, thank you:-) 1. You're BRAVE, I started to lose hope here 23:57 believing there was no exit. 2. Deer are usually timid, I was shocked to see one so calm and amongst the people 29:54 3. I like how the sunlight breaks through 46:19
Though Chicago is smaller than NYC (specifically Manhattan), it's surprisingly long. If you bike from Hyde Park's Jackson Park to Rogers Park's Loyola Beach, that's about 17 miles. You have 17 miles each way of beautiful lakefront to enjoy and curse at as you bike/run.
lakefront Trail is my fav one :) The Bike Girl has very good Endurance!!Usually I Bike three times a week sometimes to 46 Str. You did very good Job w Go Pro !!!!Great Work:)
It looks like a neutral profile in GoPro, which is good. Sound is quite well protected from wind contamination, which is also not so easy. But using 24 fps with an action camera capable of 60-that's truly beyond my understanding. Yesterday, we biked to the Botanic Garden and slightly beyond, which made close to 60 miles/100km roundtrip from UIC/Little Italy. It was quite windy to go there up North. But I did not take my GoPro.
24fps is for a more cinematic look and a slower shutter speed so we get a nice motion blur. The motion blur is easier on the compression algorithm too.
As much as I hate it and love to insult it, I must make one exception: This bike path doesn't hold a candle to beautiful Fairmont Park in Philadelphia.
Hey Cynical! I just learned about the Bike the Drive event in Chicago. I just watched your video from 2022 and that has me even more excited to attend. I'm registered for this year's event and hope to see you and some other RU-vid celebrities out there. Lol! I'm going to be staying at the Marriott Marquis because it's close to the event. Instead of parking, I'm going to ride my bike to the event from my hotel. Do you have any helpful tips about the event? I think the lodging and knowing where the event is taking place is half the battle. I look fwd to hearing from you. I love your videos!! 👊🏾
If you're local the heads of the Fox River Trail are in Oswego and Algonquin which is approximately 38 miles one-way. Slightly before downtown Algonquin the Fox Trail transitions into the Prairie Trail which ends in Crystal Lake. If you ride the Fox Trail - Prairie Trail from start to finish from Oswego to Crystal Lake (vise-versa) its about 45 miles one-way. You can easily do a century ride on this trail round trip but you will just have to take a slight detour to add the extra 10 miles. It can take up anywhere from 4 - 8 hours to complete if you're riding at 12-15mph average depending rather its a one-way or round trip.
I grew up on the Fox River trail in East Dundee. The stretch of trail from Forest Park to Wisconsin is still my favorite I've ever ridden. Thanks for taking us along.
