Cross references are definitely Heather's favorite, and thank you for the reference to Matthew 12:40!! And thank you Sarah for the question, "What do we learn about God?"
Close, but no cigar. This is still deficient parablesplaining. Again, the Chara Project is looking at this parable only through terms of God’s law, which is correct, but not complete. The gospel side of the parable is missing in this explanation. This is not a parable about that we should do good to others to gain brownie points to enter in God’s Kingdom. Doing good to others is certainly part of the message, but the deeper, more important meaning is that Jesus is the Good Samaritan. Jesus is the one who found us in the ditch of our sins, beaten up by the world and the devil. Jesus is the one who pulled us out of the ditch. Jesus is the one who nurses us back to health. This parable is all about what Jesus does to save us. This parable is all about Jesus. Now being rescued by Jesus, we can begin to love and care for others the way Jesus loves and cares for us.
m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1UQmYpLzCE0.html For a balanced, Jesus centered view of the parable, look how this man explains it. His explanation leaves you waking away with the hope of Christ God is trying to give us in the parable.
At 5:34 she says in reference to obtaining heaven “the cost or the price is what we are willing to give up to obtain it…”. This is some bad “parablesplaining” if you don’t mind me saying. What she is missing is that the true price for us to obtain heaven is Jesus’s blood on the cross. The parable is dual meaning and must be understood through both God’s law and God’s gospel. She only explained the parable through God’s law which isn’t necessarily bad, but should cause us to really contemplate and realize just how hopeless it is for us to give everything to get into heaven. This should drive us to the greater meaning of the parable; that Jesus is the man who gave up everything to buy the field to rescue us, his treasure. We may not feel like treasure (probably why we read parables through only the lens of what we must do) but to Jesus we are. Only after understanding the Christ centered meaning of the parable can we actually begin to give up things in our life that hinder our walk with Jesus; knowing that we are already forgiven and bought by Jesus’s blood.
Thank you! You are fantastic teachers! I appreciate you two so much! I wasn’t getting it on my own. You are now role models for me teaching the Bible!❤
Heather & Sarah, wonderful podcast (as always), it was quite interesting and insightful. Yes, it makes perfect sense that the Prophecy books had to be cryptic to hide the plan from the evil one (I'm a little slow).
Heather & Sarah, as always, fantastic video!! The analogies between Luke 24 and our neighbors is wonderful and enlightening. I was once told that the best mentors in life are the ones who do not give non-stop advice, but rather ones who ask all the right questions. In JOY!!
The Bible translation quoted in this video is NIV (New International Version), but we truly encourage you to use any translation that is easy for you to understand. To learn more about the different translations, check out this article on our website: www.thecharaproject.com/choosing-a-bible-version
Verse 39 in 1 Corinthians 14 states “ brethren”. “Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church. Or did the word of God come originally from you? Or was it you only that it reached? If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord. But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant. Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues. Let all things be done decently and in order.” I Corinthians 14:34-40 NKJV Women have distinctive roles, not that of a man for we are all members of the body but different parts of the body. Men can’t be women and women can’t be men.
Good show ladies. Women, that are called by God ,not these satan used false churches and Calvin twisted theology, must stay focused on the one who gives gifts, the Lord. One thing that always stands out, the first person that Jesus told to go tell, was a woman.
Thank you Sarah and Heather, great podcast!! I wrote down the 3 articles Sarah mentioned in the CSB study bible. Do you have any other recommended articles in Sarah's CSB?
There are 35 contributed articles in the Christian Standard Study Bible. Too many good ones to list here, but as part of these it has an article for each literary style, which introduces the writing style more in depth (e.g. Intro to the Pentateuch, Intro to Historical Books, Intro to the Books of Poetry and Wisdom, Intro to the Old Testament Prophets, Intro to the Gospels and Acts, Intro to the New Testament Letters). We love our literary styles at The Chara Project and love that this Bible included a shout out to them!
Thank you for the wonderful insights!! Even though I am not a group leader, everything you mention is fantastic learning guidance and for living with and loving others. With JOY!!
Heather & Sarah, great video!! Plus "the Boys" did a fantastic job in reinforcing everything you have taught us over the last years (CHARA Bible Study Guide, new Neighbor Guide, plus all of your podcasts). Thank you again, and JOY be with you.
Heather, Sarah, and Val, beautiful podcast!! Thank you for sharing your stories, your hearts, and helping each of us in our paths to better know our Savior. With JOY!!
For myself I had to start fresh and examine all the doctrines I was taught in the church. I asked where those doctrines supported by the word of God? Then I have to examine what Christ said in his teachings, and ask if what i believe is what he actually taught. I had to examine the lenses I saw scripture through, what I'd been taught. Paul constantly warned us to not follow any other doctrine then what Christ taught and to separate ourselves from others who do. Jer. 16: 9 tells us we've all inherited lies and the same is true in the church. Was what the church I attended said he taught actually what he was teaching. Rome and Constantine did a great deal to introduce mixture into Christianity that never would have been accepted by Christ, or the apostles. Paul himself warned that when he died dangerous doctrines would enter the church. Acts 20:29-31 Clearly all the NT writers support the law of God, which we are told in the OT is forever. 2 John 1:9-11, Ro 3:31, 1 tim 1:8-11, Ro 7:12, However the law doesn't save us, only faith through grace through Christ saves us. The law shows us what God's righteous judgement is and what is right and wrong. We need God through Christ and the Holy Spirit to circumcize our hearts. We are told that God doesn't change Mal 3:6, that Christ doesn't change Heb 13: 8, so his law which tells us what is right and wrong still applies to us today. The law shows us what is right and wrong. The ceremonial laws no longer apply because Christ's death did away with our need for that. Matt 5: 17-20. Though due to sin we will fall short and thus, we need a savior and our salvation is by grace through faith by Christ alone. Once we are his, he enables us to follow his ways, and he tells us that if we love him we will keep his commandments. 1,2 ,3 John have so many good things to show us how to follow him and we have all the words in red that show us what Christ teached. What Christ did away with was death for sin by taking our death sentence himself and buying back his bride, whom he had divorced due to idolatry and unfaithfulness. Christ said that until heaven and earth pass away not one jot or tiddle of the law will pass away until heaven and earth pass away. Matt 5: 17-20. He fulfilled some prophecy when he came, but the idea that he did it all and we are not required to do anything isn't supported by scriptures. He is coming back for a faithful bride that is willing to mortify sin in their lives by seeking the Holy Spirit to enable us to walk in his ways. We are called to mortify ( put to death sin) through the enabling of the Holy Spirit. We won't live in constant sin but due to our sin nature we will struggle with sin and have need of intercession of Christ throughout our lives. We cannot save ourselves, but if we love him, we will allow the Holy Spirit and Christ himself to do it's saving work in our hearts and convict us of sin so we turn from it.
Boy you both reading the wrong Bible. Thats why you need to be careful of those new Bible translations many words has been take away and many has been added. That is why you need to read the right Bible The KJV it never mention both women and men. Sarah you are completely wrong there is no confusion at all and there is no contradiction at all. It's crystal clear. Red KJV its very clear and its the right translations.
Wow, am I slow. First I missed this podcast when it was originally posted (beginning of 2023), and then I missed the humor within the CHARA Bible Study Guide: Author: 6 questions, PSPSPS Research: 5 questions: RRRRR Apply: 6 questions, PRAYER Thank you for your honesty, humor, insight (prayer is important, and the Holy Spirit is a key resource), and passion for sharing how to learn more about God.
The "TASK" of the 3-Fold Command of Christ Jesus (Keep, Care, Tend My Sheep) first falls on the shoulder of a Man called Simon Peter and not to any Woman of Faith... like Blessed Mary or St. Mary Magdalene... Facts and Truth, Biblically and logically speaking... Praise be to God in Christ Jesus... Amen.
Christ Jesus is the Last High PRIESHOOD of God on Earth who does not come from LEVITE's Tribe/clan, for St. Joseph and Blessed Mary came from JUDAH's Tribe/clan... All the Apostles of Christ including St. Paul were commanded first by Christ Jesus to "PREACH the Gospel and MAKE Disciples of all Nations...," which makes them the early PREACHERS (Teachers/Pastors/Church Elders) of the 1st Cent. A.D. ... reference Matt. 28:19-20. Take Note: Blessed Mary even though she is Highly Favored by God and Full of Grace by the Holy Spirit who dwelt upon her TWICE (during her conception and Pentecost/Tongues of fire), obeyed and followed the WILL (prerogatives) of God by fully submitting herself to the Church in humbly silent and obedience... St. Mary Magdalene also got the Tongues of Fire (Holy Spirit) during Pentecost, obeyed and followed the WILL (prerogatives) of God, and also did not PREACH or TEACH or become a PRIESTESS. Christ asked Simon Peter (Church Key-Gate Keeper) a "3-FOLD COMMAND"... "FEED, CARE, TEND MY (God/Christ) SHEEP (Church/Christians)."... ref. John 21... Amen.
Sarah & Heather, Thank you for the wonderful story of how the Chara Project started!! I love the part about Sarah's neighbor across the street and the part regarding Sarah's Mom's chair. Someone once said there is no such thing as coincidence, only destiny. This saying unintentionally touches upon God's will and why the chair was there, to help you through a new phase of your life (With JOY). Very touching. Thank you again, and God Bless!!
Keeping our eyes on Jesus! Thank you for the fantastic gift and advice for life. And thank you as your sincerity is heartfelt as you share the key points and application of Hebrews and beyond.
Wow, what a wonderful way to start 2024. Thank you to both of you for sharing your beautiful insight into this passage!! I think I need to go back and repeat the CHARA "First 30 Days In The Bible" series to see things in a new light, in JOY ❤
