The Barwa is an agra bandish that he probably learned from Ginde Saab. Very interesting rendition, especially in comparison to latafat hussain khansab and sharafat hussain khansab. There's an interesting rendition of this bandish from ulhas kashalkarji as well.
The name of this Raga might be appropriate if it is KALYANI because from YAMAN-KALYAN here Pa note is omitted; Otherwise Raga RAJKALYANI because here added the shudha madhyam (Ma) in Raga RAJKALYAN. Anyway way a beautiful and excellent performance. Every Pandit or music lover student easily understand this Raga who knows the said Raga's and lalitanga
Gods of music exist. How terribly wasted my life. Never heard this man play before. Thanks to you tube. Thanks to all the students taking time to upload. Thanks to all those unsung heroes and heroines who patiently recorded, stored, transferred and uploaded to RU-vid. May all of you involved in keeping this timeless beauty alive.. be blessed by Lord Indra, mother Lakshmi ......and for those of you who can take a bit of levity may uRvasee and menaka greet you in heaven
@rohanshivadekar 8 months ago Pt. Mukulji is eccentric alright, but very honestly, after having listened to his performances 5 times in Pune, of which one was not that good, but other 4 were exceptional. If he is in the mood, he is way above any of the best singers today. I remember the performance after he came back from rehabilitation, he sang Raga Bihag in Yashwantrao, which was housefull and he did Aalapi for around 30 min. I have never ever heard that level of aalap. Simply brilliant.. For people like him, they live in their own world.. Do you have a recording mentioned??????????????????????????
See most comments are from india. So will just let you know that this westerner heard this beautiful, hypnotic and peaceful piece some 20 times already and will surely hear much more... Thank you very much for uploading!!
