Seriously, what a talent you have man. From the sound design, to the actors' skills- the way he pauses as he's speaking. It's as if he really is remembering a traumatic event and he's struggling to find his words. The images you chose at the end were great too. Just little reminders of how whacked out she was when she was found. The images of the f*ed up stag, and the creepy giant insect, and the x-ray were all gokd choices too. Honestly, with the music choice and the setting- having the images show in time with the high notes of the soundtrack are pretty predictable (not sure if thats the word im looking for). I mean, yes predictable, but more so- just super common in a lot of films- full length and short films. HOWEVER- its common because it works. And it definitely works here, especially for a video journal entry, under 5min long. I am enjoying these short updates, but Im really looking forward to the next long form entry to this story. Cant wait for the next entries!
Great film. While both protagonists were good actors, Ms. Howell's acting was sublime. I was immediately immersed in the film and the ending was satisfying given what you can achieve in such a short time frame. I want to see more from this filmmaker.
This is the third short I've watched about whether the parent is displaying signs of dementia or something supernatural. I don't think I like the subject matter. It sort of diminishes the gravity of the condition.
