Sounds like a good story, a relic from the pessimistic, yet hopeful 60’s mindset about changing the world. Too bad we didn’t listen to it.

I like that series, the Steve Gerber issues especially. It’s a great idea for a character, guy studying to be a priest finds out his father is Satan! That’d really mess with your head. But, he refuses to succumb to the evil within, and swears to oppose his father anyway he can. Good stuff

1970s comics were awesome. I just wish DC comics had done their version of Dracula in universe that was incontinuity like tube of Dracula is because I’m more of a DC fan but I love Marvel too and tomb of Dracula is just awesome so is werewolf by night at the living mommy

You touched on the writing and how good it is. And sure, Sax Rohmers “ Fu Manchu” has now been relegated to the dustbin of racist tropes. But there’s a poetic treatment of these characters in the comic that goes beyond that. The struggle between fathers and sons. The son’s need to free himself from his father’s dreams and find his own subjectivity. The ending is masterful in how Shang emerges from his father’s lair, which has all the incense infused trappings of Old China, onto the sidewalks of lower Manhattan. The comic captures both the dislocation of a simulation of orientalism existing within the Western urban landscape, as well as Shang-Chi’s emerging from that sheltered, illusory existence into his own selfhood. And in near Shakespearian language, the expression of the price he has to pay: “ I have lost my father and in all the world, I cannot find another.”

7:15 Thats a two part Mysterio story. I have both of them. #s 66 & 67. I scooped the three of them including the #60 with King Pin , one night in 2001. $15 each for the two mysterio issues. Had to grab em. Incidently its important to note, that these very Mysterio Stories were the ones presented in the 67 series cartoon. Only for some reason in the mini circus story Mysterio was presented without a costume, had a green skin and smoked from a plastic cigarette holder. Go figure. Even though the cartoon episode called the ' Madness Of Mysterio' sported his full costume. Weird. Was Bakshi taking a s##t or taking something else there?

Great to see another Geezers episode. This comic came to attention when your highlighted and discussed the first issue and supported this comic through its eight issue run. Ordering this collection before the end of the week. Thanks for continuing support of this comic during its run. A highly enjoyable read and worth support from the comic reading public. Thanks, again, Pete. Looking forward to whatever the Geezers bring next.

I had a Marvel Team-up that paired the monster with Spidey. Good stuff. Also, speaking of the infamous fur vest - I had the Mego Karloff Frankenstein in the traditional business jacket but my mom made a little fur tunic for him. Great memories.

I liked it, I had a great time, but I prefer the more serious tone Marvel films. Also, it was the first mcu film that I didn't take my daughter to on opening night, and we've been to every one since Captain America:First Avenger. She's old enough but I thought it would feel awkward watching all those sex jokes while sitting next to your daughter.

Loved the movie I rarely go to teathers but I had to go watch this one . Age of Apocalypse wolverine was koo I always felt Marvel building up Thanos & the 4 horse men was there take on Apocalypse but they didnt own the rights so they used Thanos & Avengers kus infinity war was nothing like the comic infinity gauntlet

I absolutely LOVED the film, waited so long for it and got to see it on the Thursday night premiere last week. It's up there along with Spider-Man: No Way Home, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in the post-Endgame era movies. I almost teared up watching that end credits tribute footage because it was a bittersweet farewell of the 20th Century Fox X-Men films and those other pre-MCU films.

Been missing Wild Bill and Pete here but all hail the King. So special thanks to Chris Alo for appearing in this episode with Pete and to the two of you for such an enjoyable discussion of the movie. Makes me want to go to the theater. Great job, guys.

I remember this issue. Summer of 1975. I recall that it was a disappointment. I wanted a break from the overly verbose, super slow pace of the McGregor/Russel operas, and a return to the high adventure of the first 6 issues. Unfortunately, this issue was Bill Mantlo gets us an issue that could be a BLM propaganda tract. Even then, the idea that there would be people old enough to remember 1950’s segregation still alive in 2023, who had survived 23 years of Martian invasion/occupation is pretty silly.

Hey Pete 2 things to tell you: 1)Night Hawk was basically a young Spiderman except instead of being bitten by a spider - he found an amulet that fell from outerspace and when he activated it- he gained the armor. 2) get Defenders vol 1 issue 45. Based on the concept of the so ng 2112. Has quotes of direct song lyrics of 2112 and first page has a small saying thanking Rush on the first page
