I feel like only one or two moments in this vid really showed the advantages of modern though. The remaining 98% was excellent fundamentals - spacing, whiff punishing, conversion on opportunities...just all around good decision making...no random OD reversals..he played very solidly and calmly.

Not one of Saitoh's best moments, he clearly got way better with Ken since this video (the man didnt really utilize his drive rush links when he had combo openings and completey got froze out on whiff) but damn this was an ass whooping 😂
If you're proficient with classic and use modern I don't see any problems. Also if you're new to fighting games and would like to get into it, I see no issues there as well. The problem will come when these new players just stick with modern and don't develop their muscle memory and mental stack for classic. On the financial side, Capcom has over 30+ years of great fighting games in their catalog which they repackage almost every year and sell, I doubt they are going to add modern controls to all those games. one more negative for not learning classic. Also, most of the other fighting game developers use some form of classic controls, and unless all of them including Capcom come up with a standard for modern all these new players will be left out once SF6 is over. You don't use it you lose it.
That's a whole lot of generalizing just cuz you think people need to learn Modern controls on those terms. Capcom made Modern controls in SF6 so more people can play. The more people that can play and enjoy SF6, the more money Capcom can make and the longer they can stay in business making fighting games. No one cares if they don't go play other fighting games that don't have easier controls. With that being said, you can expect to see more fighting games in the future come out with easier controls.
And they said you need to be Pro doing classic. Pffffff.🤨 But look at THIS!!! Playing modern is easy to time your combat and easy-to-use your shortcut. Keep up the good work you hear💪🤙
What happens in 7 years when SF6 is no more and these new players haven't developed their mental stack and musicl memory for classic game play? not to mention the oher fighitng game developers who use classic.
