Admittedly never driven an air cooled (all my fruinds are in construction, so no dentists or lawyers) but what I do know is my 996 is amazing AND cheap. Let the haters hate, once the secerets out, the prices are sure to rise... Speaking of power, not sure who first said it, nor will I get it exactly right, "more fun driving a slow car fast than a fast car slow", truer words never spoken. Lastly, the ones who really know, even on the internet, the real experts express how truly great the 996 really is. The smartest, most respected experts, who can afford any car they would ever want, love the 996 and never hesitate to share their praisees Again, let the haters hate... saves us 10's if thousands of $, let em keep overpaying for literally inferior air cooled models
No… in fact I am back in the UK in July I will do a complete video on the car as it stands as SOOOOOOO MUCH has changed on it since this video. Thank you for the impetus push! ❤️
Hi so glad you have committed to your 996 ...its an opportunity !! Chris Wright is a Top man really good he caught that IMS as he did. looking forward to Goodwood too !!
hey man, the 996 is to cool to not spend the cash getting it sorted! Plus getting a bit more power from it will mean the car will be better when you get it back, you'll never struggle to get good money for a aero 996 in red pal. that investment will most definitely add value!! Looking forward to seeing it back, mine is going off for some front end love to get the stone chips sorted!
Thank you Nick! The story behind my car is important and the thought of getting rid without doing right by him doesn’t sit well with me. Also, I will be looking at sorting the front bumper soon. But who knows what will be uncovered when we have the car back? 🙄😑😩😭
@@renneleven the value of a 996 has been too low for too long! now people are starting to realise how good these are and the prices are rising! never sell yours! Magnus even states how his 996 is one of his favourites.
You’re not alone. My ‘99 c2 had an engine failure. I’ll figure it out later in the month and start rebuilding from there. Same frame of mind, too…there’s still so much to be done, selling isn’t an option. Looking forward to updates!
@@renneleven much appreciated, and likewise, but, this too shall pass. I think our routes will be similar. I’m determined to rebuild mine using LN engineering’s parts and punching it out to 3.8 with all the hardware for increased performance and reliability.
If it was my car I would replace the IMS bearing and run it... When it dies from bore scoring then LS it... I do like 996's just not the M96-M97 engines...
Scary to see that happen to a dual row ims car. Didn’t think that was much of a weak spot on the earlier dual row versions. Glad I’m dropping my oil pan soon to install an x51 baffle on my ‘99. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻I don’t see any scrap metal (or plastic for that matter). Look forward to seeing more of your updates. Cheers!
One of the plans perhaps for the future will be to run a baffled sump and a scavenger pump like the X51, with the extra pipe work. There is no rhyme or reason with it. If it goes, it goes. Clearly!
@@renneleven I’ve read this comment back and it makes no sense to me whatsoever. I haven’t sold my house, I’m not buying a GT3. I do have a black aero-kit 996 C4, though. I must have been drunk.
Nice video very detailed, if a understood well, you put 18×8" front and 18x10 rear? I am asking because the porsche spec show 18x7,5" at front. I have a 2000 996 C2 tiptronic and I would like to upgrade from 17" to 18" and is important to know what size are best for my 996 BR
Yes that’s correct! So the fitment I went for was the same as a 996.1 GT3, 8’s front and 10 rear. It’s a very minor upgrade, with the wider rear tyre adding to the contact patch.
I love my 996 Turbo (manual coupe, of course), I'll likely never sell it. And now that Magnus Walker has bought 4 of them, and every RU-vidr is talking about them, the prices have skyrocketed. 996 forever.

I've been running no front plate on my Integra DC-2 since 2012. Granted I don't do a lot of miles (it's a 4th car!) but I've never had a pull from the rozzers....
