Just having fun hanging out in the garage turning wrenches. I like to say I am a Jack of all trades, master of none. I like to fix what's broken and have some fun learning along the way.
Great idea! I've been doing this for years with fantastic results. First time I've heard of anyone else using extension cord wire. It's double insulated and durable. I also never use the frame ground because the attachment points corrode pretty quickly.
Any ideas on how to get the bottom plate off to checkbwiring on our fan that just stopped working? I am down to one screw that is viewed from the bottom but insert from inside the housing. How did you get the base off?
Just watched your video, probably one of the better ones I have seen. You get to the point, show the parts needed. My only comment was that some of the video was out of focus, no biggie, and when you showed some of the parts and part numbers, you were out of the range of the camera. I have the exact motor so this was a huge help and encouragement for me to try some of this maintenance myself. Can you do one on the fuel and oil pumps? Have you done any other maintenance videos on this outboard? Thanks Jim….. 😊. Keep em coming….. 😊
I just did the tilt and trim seals, but with my schedule right now it’s just easier not to film. When it comes to the fuel pumps… I have never replaced my low pressure fuel pumps. I also do not pump my home before starting which from what I have been told makes those pumps go bad faster. Thanks for watching!
When I did a total water jacket clean out, I replaced all of my engine anodes. Cleaning the water jacket was easier than I expected it to be and the result was great. No over heating since.
I don't believe that a sucked in gas can has anything to do with ethanol fuel. It usually means that the last time the can was open the temperature was warm, and there were more fumes in the can, usually when the temperature cools down the gases and fumes settle down and contract, creating a sucking in. I never use ethanol, and I have noticed this with large temperature swings.
Just replaced my solenoid. Battery is charged and it turns on, sometimes. Then it clicks sometimes but when it clicks it can still turn on when I turn it on from the solenoid. Any ideas on what can be wrong?

It didn’t look like you took the little rubber gasket off the old fuel filter and reinstall it into the top of your new one. Maybe u did, but u didn’t show it. Also, you didn’t grease anything on your water pump replacement. Those new gasket pins, the Woodruff key, housing bolt threads, shift shaft or the top of the shaft itself, at a minimum.
not really expecting a reply but if there is thatd be awesome, for some reason my hatchback foxbody has a convertible top relay that draws power, i have no idea why i have one because i have a hard top. can i just cut it out?
what do the pulley studs thread into? I ran the impact on mine and no matter how long I loosened it just never came off, felt like there is a nut on top that you need to hold or something to stop it from spinning. Anyway, I'll take a better look at it in the light tomorrow (it was pitch black outside while I was working on it earlier). Thanks for the video, very helpful. Cheers!
@@turningwrenches9524 yes sir turns out that's all it was. I had to set a wrench up on top to stop it from spinning. Thanks again for the helpful video!
A friendly Tip. Whenever you have a spark arrest that is severely clogged like that was is, You should always pull the muffler as well because there could also be clogging at the exhaust hole in the cylinder.
Hello brother! I have a Kubota na3050 model generator that has the same problem. Means plug current is not coming. Where did you buy the eyelash coil, can I get it too?
My neighbor moved the other day and left the tb200. It is missing an air filter and cover. The mower has been sitting in the yard for a few months. It doesn't start. 😢
I have the same generator. Bout for $75 at a yard sale complete and looks like low hours. Can't seem to get it to idle well at all. Let's see if this video helps me figure it out.
I have one of these great for helping remove the tire. Good for holding the wheel while mounting the tire. The mounting arm is poorly designed, I use the old style method of 2 big screw drivers and prying the tire on.
@@turningwrenches9524 65l-24564 is the part number. My Yamaha dealer sells it with the filter, the small o ring that goes on the top of the filter and the gasket that goes on the bowl.
Yamaha started or switched to that o-ring for the 2001 and up year models. The 1999 and 2000 model use the large o-ring like I used. The part you listed is in the parts diagrams for 2001 and up. That was a head scratcher for a minute. Thanks for watching!
It took 3 purge and fill ups to finally get my hydraulic system to the right level. A process that slowly quiets down the pumps much like the whining of a power steering pump.
Can you clarify which sides I add engine oil to and which sides I add gear oil to? I recently was given one of these w/o documentation and am trying to make sure I fill each of the 3 openings w/ the proper oil. It appears engine oil may feed from the back side behind the right rear of the tank if standing at the front but it is unclear what I do about the openings on the right and left which may only be to check the oil level? Thank you in advance!
Sorry but I traded it for two hedge trimmers. I was able to find the manuals on the troy bilt website. Looking at those its says its SAE 30 for both. The engine oil fill and check is on the same side as the carburetor. Thanks for watching.
@@turningwrenches9524 yeah I found the service manuals but it is unclear if this model also used gear oil as referenced on page 9 or just used engine oil. Admittedly have never seen a small yard tool engine w/ this many fill points......
Thanks for the video I have the same unit same problem at first I thought it was the pto but the blades engaged with no problems thanks again now I know what to look for and do.
Thanks for the video. I just purchased a 99' Pursuit Kodiak with the same year Yamaha 200 OX66. Powerhead was rebuilt a while back. How many hours on yours? I've heard good things about them in terms of reliability and longevity.
I’m not sure how many hours on mine… pretty sure it’s less than 1000… And from what I have seen it lives up to the bullet proof name. It’s basically a carburetor with fuel injection on the front side like a throttle body, So it starts easy and runs well with a lot of power. I also run non-ethanol gas to avoid any problems. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the vid!!! I just did both thermostats... and my poppit (PRV) valve. My motor, 2001 250hp ox66 SX250TURZ, also has a "thermosensor". Only ONE, on the STARBOARD side, directly next to the thermostat, I have a thermosensor sticking straight up w/ an electrical connection. Online, yamaha OEM parts lists this as a "thermosensor"... but my manual calls this an "engine cooling water temperature sensor". First off, do you do maintenance on these, cleaning or replacing? And second, what's the purpose? If the thermostats are both measuring the temperature of the water, then what is the thermosensor doing? Any insight is appreciated... thanks.
The thermosensor is there to tell the engine control computer when to alarm from an overheat condition and go into limp mode. Limp mode is where your engine computer limits the rpms to 2000. I am not sure they can be cleaned, but I have verified them electronically by heating up the sensor with a blow dryer and seeing if the sensor will break continuity…or make continuity if it is a normally open sensor.(can’t remember)
If you hook the starter light on to your ground post and then touch the probe end to one side of the large solenoid post it should turn on and then you need to put it on the other side of the solenoid and then turn the key and that side should light up.
