While I think it's a mega goofball move to not do it as an alien, this Earthling Cthulhu take is really, REALLY clever. Every aspect here was clearly carefully considered and it resonates with the original creature and concepts extraordinarily well. I saw your videos aboot the xenomorphs and King Ghidorah and as cool as that KG take was, you really were just giving a new coat of paint on already existing ideas, just trying to fully consider the implications of the biology of those monsters. You're not the first one to consider xenos to be essentially hollow machines (they're basically living batteries) or treat KG's wings as solar sails, but you are 100% the first person to try to make Cthulhu into an Earthling... and succeed. I particularly love that it's a lobopod, because I love those damn things. Such little buddies. Makes me wonder if you could make a spec evo history project where the Ordovician extinction never happened and somehow fit Cthulhus in, having them come up on land aroond the time of arthropods and basically replace vertebrates. Idunno maybe that's too crazy... but until somebody invents a sideways time machine you can't really prove it!

You did a lot of similar things to when I reified the Mogwai-Gremlins. I made them similar to monotremes but producing sticky leathery eggs that can stick to fur while slowly gestating. And more variably parthenogenetic like aphids. Exceptional wet seasons and abundance results in higher metabolism and them reproducing more quickly and more sexually - the gremlin form. The stress and sheer number of eggs produced causing hairloss and eventually death if it persists. With a return to normal scarcity metabolism slows and surviving animals will be the normal shy semi solitary furry mogwai form.

I remember first hearing about "everything" turning into crabs or "things keep turning into crabs" and thinking "How does a vertebrate turn into a crab?" Was on PBS Eons and boy was I disappointed. No surprise in surprise in *crustaceans* becoming crab-like but people are always using that clickbait title.

God this is just… I don’t know how to respond to this buffoonery it’s just so bizarre and kinda creepy. I love it nonetheless though. I like seeing these spec evo shitposts and hope you continue to do crazy stuff like this in the future. Now today’s proposal: Death from Puss in Boots. Many flesh and blood beings in this world have been warped by superstition and spiritualism. For better or worse like the Lion Turtles and today’s research subject respectively. The Lobo de la Muerte is one of the most prominent examples of this even from the name alone. “Wolf of Death” is the English translation for this creature and it is appropriate considering the behaviour of these animals. These large canines are patient hunters and will employ a variety of tactics to take down prey. Unlike other wolf species this one lives a solitary life due to the less hospitable land in southwestern Europe leading to a team strategy to be ultimately more trouble than its worth and this has led to some interesting adaptations. These wolves are entirely bipedal and use their front limbs to take down prey with one of their front digits being adapted into a large, sickle shaped claw on each paw that is their main weapon. These claws are highly mobile and can be used to inflict stabs, slashes and even blunt force injuries when used by experienced Lobo. This is partly because the claws have a certain degree of metal compositing within it in order to deal as much damage as possible. This ultimately helps the sadistic nature of the Lobo as it will often torture its prey for a while before putting them out of their misery. The typical hunting practices of these animals involve stalking their prey for days on end, always in silence due to pads on their feet, always appearing out of the corner of their eye and putting them on edge with its presence. This is furthered by a unique ability, infrasound. As they stalk their prey the Lobo will let out a series of complex sounds that sound similar to whistling and capable of instilling fear into anything that hears it, or even feels it directly. This is accomplished due to a highly sophisticated snout that can produce many a sound, some even theorised to be a form of long distance communication between individual Lobo. Indeed these wolves are highly intelligent, similar to primates and select cetaceans and this is furthered by their use of primitive clothing and camouflage, made out of certain plants and even stuff stolen from human settlements like ponchos. There are many theories as to why they do this, some think that it’s camouflage but others think it might be to help thermoregulation due to the Spanish heat. The Lobo have a strange relationship with domestic cats and often will single them out and harass them both psychologically and physically. Ultimately killing them in the midst of their sadistic pleasure. Strangely they rarely attack humans and often will be allowed passage through human settlements if they are not hunting anything. Although they will often raid areas like grave sites at night and dig out corpses to feast on which might be the reason they have been given their moniker, along with their extremely high success rate in hunts. Unfortunately as human activity is increasing and the encroaching on the habitat of the Lobo de la Muerte these animals are becoming closer and closer to the mere legends that surround them. See you soon and good luck over your break!
