Hypergamous Hookers. That's what a courtesan is. Gabrielle Coco Chanel was a courtesan, and that kind of hypergamous behavior continued through her life. She was banging English society man Arthur Boy Capel. Then she was banging that exiled Russian Romanov royal - forgot his name. Then she was banging that Nazi senior official in occupied France. Was she banging Winston Churchill? And so on. Chanel was always a survivor at heart, having been dumped in an orphanage at age 12. But that's hypergamy. The instinctive need for provisioning, resources, safety. And women Then were even more vulnerable in more dangerous times.
The child in one of the first photos on here - with his finger under his chin - is the Countess’s son, Giorgio, who she had photographed in many unusual ways. it is not of the Countess.
Thank you for this. Isadora Duncan was one of the most fascinating characters of the 20th century. To call her an "original" would be a huge understatement. For those who might be interested, her book "My Life" is a must-read. The movie, "Isadora" starring a young Vanessa Redgrave, was excellent also, although I don't remember how precisely it follows the book.
This would be a really great video if the music did not greatly overpower the voice of the narrator. Then add that the narrator talks so fast that it seems to be a race. Take a breath! Sad.
ooooooooo OMG. When I first saw her I fell in love. I'm white but I've always had a thing for beautiful black women. African black women often like white boys as me. They know we'll please them and give them love.
Isn't that what celebrity/debutantes? They are cute girls who have some kind of talent to get "famous" on social media. The really "big" ones get rich lovers...
debutantes are socialites, female offspring of High Society - they are debuted (day byoo'd) when they make their social 'coming out' at the annual Debutante Ball. No amount of new money (nouveau riche) makes one a member of High Society - they only welcome in whomever they deem have the 'breeding' to be welcomed in (remember Elly May Clampett?). Celebrities are something completely different - the term means 'stars'.
I dont agree with the picture “being about her”, he’s looking up at her as she’s the translator between him “a genius in his works”, and us the public.
MMmm... A Movie was made? I just may watch it after seeing this Colette upload. Thought there was no greater erotic woman writer out there prior to Anaiis Nin.
The best way to put it is it's like being a professional companion to men of high stations. The men they entertain are their patrons. They can be persuaded to become 'kept women', mistresses through courtship, gifts, favors etc. It is quite different from contracting a prostitute just for one night. Of course these women have to be attractive to these men by more than just looks. I can see this as being a very good position to be in, for women who cannot normally marry above their station. I like to think they have a lot more financial freedom and autonomy instead of being someone's wife who's only place is the home. It's certainly better than being a servant
I think Ruth Baldwin was her first real love. Not saying Marlene Dietrich wasn’t very important to her, but she had a doll that Ruth gave her cremated with her. And she kept Ruth’s ashes, and her ashes were laid to rest next to her at Sag Island. So that speaks volumes to me.
maybe just maybe it's the size of a normal non erect penis?? this video shows erect and non erect penises. both of them look proportional to the man. seems like we had the same size back then as we do now.
None necessarily. Hetaira is simply the Greek iteration of a courtesan, just like a geisha would be the Asian version of a courtesan it’s a branch on the tree.
