I think you could have used a nectar instead of an egg to also grab the Great Blue Heron, and would have had exactly enough food to make the double play with Heron into Flamingo.
Flamingo is so hard to use in an actual game. I feel like its best to use it round one but if your opponent sees a round one flamingo then they're almost 100% going to avoid a wetlands engine. It was amazing in your other video though
Appreciate you uploading the gsme even with the mistake. It's definitely a learning opportunity and brave to post even though you know everyone's going to rail on you for your mistakes.
Pfff yeah I did this too before Oceania, I guess you can score even more points now with the nectar and the card pile runs out less quickly, but the drawback is that it’s even harder to get the flamingo in starting hand with more cards in the deck.I tried to calculate what the perfect setup would be and what the maximum amount of scores could theoretically be. But there are too many factors coming into it so I gave that up. You need the right starting hand, other players can’t have certain cards in their starting hand, what sharing birds should the other players lay down in which order? You have to watch the round goals too, you can accidentally lose one if you don’t pay attention, like filled columns in the first round. Maybe you have flamingo in starting hand with catbird but you only find mockingbird way too late. It would we way easier if the supporting players are real players and everyone can focus on their “job”. Another thing is should you play the birds like bonelli’s eagle, hooded crow or Eurasian magpie for extra caches and tucks and what round, what turn is that the best to do at or should you skip that and only focus on wetlands?not to even start about having the right bonus cards like bird counter or citizen scientist. I think I scored near 300 points as well, but if you want to replicate this it can take you all day, you go nuts from all the thinking and clicking, you think you get the perfect starting hand but can’t find the missing birds and have to start over refreshing starting hands for hours. Nonetheless cool finally seeing a video successfully doing this 🥳
Flamingo is bad the first few turns of a round so you want a line up bird plays for the early turns in a round (usually first 2-3 turns), this also creates egg spots and usually more bonus points I scored 300+ in EE and 400+ in OE, I almost always have a full board, idk why people never try to play more birds
Drawing cards that last round was a little questionable IMO Even if you wanted that bunting you could have grabbed it with the bustard I didn’t expect you to have that many bonus points in the end though, starting to think site selection is a pretty decent bonus card slowly but surely 😱
4:30 I think it would've been slightly worth to drop the chickadee after the mockingbird, and honestly copying chickadee all game is kinda worth too. Thoughts?
Spoiler alert 🚨 . . . . I really like caching engines with the nutcracker but I must say I was hoping for a higher score considering how fast you set it up. This video also demonstrates the drawbacks of the willie wagtail well compared to for example the wood duck. Can’t pick up some great forest engine birds like collared dove, starling, pileated, wood duck himself, cowbirds etc. Plus the rule 16 potential. That being said, still a nice victory in the end. Also would have been interesting going out of your way to draw that kea with all the food you could spend
That was some nasty gameplay Don’t play 2 egg laying pink powers in a 1v1, I already learned that one before myself, usually doesn’t work. Your opponent found that out now too 😬
In r1, I would've considered keeping the black throated diver and tucking the raven, since at that point you had a lot of card hungry birds but no card draw boosters Edit: in r2, why not play noisy miner, gain food (and eggs using its power, tucking the northern gannet), then use that food to play the house finch?
Great to see Oceania gameplay! By my calculations you missed out on a few points at the end there to really assert your dominance 😂. Turkey, eagle, hornbill and Raven got you 23 points (6 + 6 + 9 + 2) If you played vireo and hornbill, into a lay eggs action, then played eagle and maxed out Raven. Would have got you 25 (9 + 4 + 7 + 5)
With 2 turns and PAB to go, he had to get rid of 6 nectar (which disappears before yellow PAB) He also had to use that nectar in the wetlands to get wetlands +3 nectar points, and get the 2 big point birds to draw EOR and not lose 3 points (I always get stung on this with eor being awarded before yellow activations. Maybe if he had sourced the right food and planned for egg timing, OR getting use out of the wagtail, too many things to worry about!
I’ve been looking at feeders for hours and your video is the most comprehensive I’ve found on Squirrel Buster feeders! I suggest you include Squirrel Buster + “names” review in your title and tags! Thanks and great job!
