it's weird that the decisive meeting to determine Pierpoint's fate (or failure), takes place in the London branch instead of the New York headquarter. And why isn't New York celebrating 150 years of Pierpoint - or is it just the London location that is in existence for 150 years? This would explain why all C-level executives are gathered in London, whereas usually, in a moment of crisis, the leadership locks themselves into the headquarters main conference room...

Not only didn't Eric like the Mitsubishi-deal, he also took the change to get his personal revenge - it was Adler who humiliated Eric in season 2 by promoting him to a meaningless position in a lonely corner-office in order to get him off the trading-floor where the action takes place...

I cannot convey how much my opinion "Industry" has changed since season 1. What brilliant writing, especially with small details paying off later as big plot developments. I'm also impressed with the acting, particularly Ken Leung's. It's going to make the No. 2 spot on my best-of this for 2024, second only to "Shogun" (which may be one of my favorite shows ever). Also, One Mike, can I just say that you are at your VERY BEST when you're analyzing this show?

Thank you for the compliment! I agree. lol I try to stay humble, and when it comes to this RU-vid shit, I don't have a choice but to be humble because no one watches my videos. lol But I'm VERY proud of my Industry and Succession videos. VERY proud. Like I'll often wrap up recording an Industry video and say to myself "That was a really good one!," which I almost never do. The better the show is, the more it motivates me. I enjoyed S1 of Industry, but it was mostly off vibes to me. It was a fun watch. S2 was a significant step up, and this one is still another step up (but not a large one since S2 was really good as well).

Great recap. 1) Thank you for explanation of Mitsubishi because I was aware it was a bank as well but I didn’t think others did. 2). Thanks for explaining the distance between Wales and London because I didn’t think to google it. 😂. You are spot on for Yas. She’s just a terrible person and doesn’t deserve Rob. Rob has definitely grown the most over the 3 seasons while almost everyone else has plummeted back to either where they were before and or worse. Harper has grown a little which is shown when she was helping Yas on the boat and how she tried to step in the way of Petra using Yas but she still has a looonnng way to go. 😂 Eric is just in Hell. 🤣😂😂. It’s funny how he told Harper all the things about herself in episode 6 but was really just looking at himself in the mirror. When looking at the preview for next episode, I wouldn’t put it past for Otto to bring all of them back to his place ( Harper, Rob and Yas) as a way to figure out how to short Pierpoint. Wouldn’t be surprised if Eric isn’t happy with the results of Ali helping Pierpoint out. 😉 Again, love your recap of this episode. Will be back Monday for next episode.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think Rob is the best/most interesting character. He's had an incredible character arc over the course of this show, and the personal shit he's dealt with regarding Nicole, Yasmine, Clement ... he's been through a lot. I definitely didn't know Mitsubishi was a bank. lol BUT, when I heard Mitsubishi was a buyer, I was motivated to look it up - just like I was about the distance from London to Cardiff. And it just enhances the show to have a better understanding of that sort of stuff. You just come to really appreciate the effort being put in.

I am not going to pretend like I completely understood it but I am under the impression that the Barclays deal was killed by the newspaper magnate Lord Norton. Charles Hanani's death scene doesn't make any sense: 1st, it looks like he jumped off pretty close to land or rocks - so, he could have reached it on his own (I know there is sea flow and he probably was drunk and/or on drugs); 2nd, this was not a 300m cruise ship, it was a 25m private yacht - so, Yasmin easily could have ordered the skipper to turn around the boat and pick up her dad - I think even in his condition, Charles could have managed to swim a few minutes until the boat arrived...

They are all kinda bad at their job. We can see it with every character. Yas is just not really interested in being good but she wants to be accepted, Robert wants to be “a man” but honestly functions better as a boy “tell me what to do” and Harper is great at analyzing but sucks horrible at genuine connections. Eric does not work good under pressure. We have seen this the entire season. So really it’s about perspective, becuase for all the characters there is a skill they are good at but in totality no of them would be great. Same thing with Rishi, lucky vs good, what’s the difference
@fightsports66
@fightsports66 12 дней назад
With Eric I think it could be he may have become an alcoholic now but to get to the rank he is he must have been great before his drinking problem. Also a divorce can mess with someone bad. The only thing I disagree with you on is Rishi. If you have ever known a salesman what he said is true about what’s the difference. For Anraj to not know that explains why he is not good or lucky. He just sits there.

@Xx54_25
@Xx54_25 9 дней назад
@@fightsports66that’s my true point, all of them can be good or lucky depending on one’s perspective. As for Eric, I didn’t really think about divorce being an issue for him, thanks for that point of view. I felt like last season he really didn’t care for being around his family. Eric never gave “family man” more like “company man” meaning he prefers work as compared to daddy duties. Nothing wrong with that but I think Eric feels more ashamed at failing at marriage or being a husband/dad. To him it’s crazy, how can I function in this crazy place but suck at home. I think that’s the whole “ do I still have sex like a young buck” issues come from. Bad sex that must be why she left, as opposed to “shit father/spouse” they are so used to winning, failing must be a small issue to fix

It's so funny Sweatpea tried to tell Yasmine after she approached Rishi. If Yasmine had listened then or even in the bathroom she would've understood what was happening when Harper asked for their list of ESGs. Harper had info she wasn't privy to and instead of letting it go she gets Yas and possibly Robert (whom let's her live in his house) fired. She's a bandit. She indeed seeks the vulnerabilities as she even did in an arguement with eric. She doesnt care who she hurts. I personally wouldnt have cooked up this short knowing my friend would lose my job. She tried to catch Sweatpea slipping but couldnt bc of her tonality which she advised Yas on earlier. The ending i think Yas was in the right. Ever been in an arguement when the other is clearly deflecting. What did Erics family or Rob have to do with each conversation

I think old Yas would’ve cared about Henry’s overdose , new Yas doesn’t care. I can’t wait to see how this unfolds. Harper is diabolical and should’ve gotten slapped again.

I gotta disagree about Yasmin's people skills. She's not good with men. She's just rich and so happens to have been given access to a bunch of them who for the most part only want to sleep with her, even though she's not particularly attractive, at least to me. She simply gets by for no apparent reason. I think this in encapsulated by the line from whatever character in the episode, "Why tf does she even work in finance?"
@fightsports66

@@lushslastword2921 I’m not saying Yasmin is dumb or stupid. I don’t like when anyone is treated that way because just you know something they don’t they may be good at something you aren’t. Like they may not know accounting like you do but they can do carpentry and you can’t. However in terms of the financial industry they are not just having other characters say she is bad at her job they now are showing Yas being clueless. That PAM guy knew Petra and Harper were up to something and Yas still didn’t get it. Great recap as well as analysis. I actually like both. When Harper and Yas are friends. In addition to when they are at each other’s neck. They read each other for filth. Worse than season 2 episode 1. I feel when they are together, they are a super pac. I love how Robert came up in their mud slinging. It showed that Harper is still salty and pining over him as well as Yas still uses him as a weapon against Harper. I wouldn’t say Harper was the super villain per se because she did try to stop Petra. She did try to deviate Petra from someone else. It’s that Eric wanted to hurt the relationship so he blamed it on Harper more than divulging that she was supposed to be let go more than two episodes ago and also his ego was bruised. Eric was pissed at Harper so he wanted to disrupt that relationship even further to hurt Harper. I might be biased a little lol. Still an amazing episode.

I love the show and I think im biased towards Eugene Levy. Him and Steve Martin doing their improve thing worked for me. They should have gone for the spit take first and when it didn't work and then doing the improv. That would have made more sense. So though I enjoyed it, the writing was off. Galafakis not liking Oliver and then all of a sudden liking him.... I did not like any of that. Wasted that perfect stranger theme song lol but it was a part of the story. I don't like the Eva casting because it's ridiculous age difference but I like Eva and her little confusingly sexy pants. Strangely enough this pairing was better than the other two because I think more was put into the writing since they wouldn't just rely on funny people being funny. Now the whole door locking thing, I agree 1000 percent on your perspectives. Like how they just waltz into the building and then into the apartment. I did enjoy the meta aspects. It could refer to the show *or* the seasons/episodes of the podcast. Puns were on point and Natalie Porkman was indeed the best name! Great review as per yooszh.

I'm in agreement with you about this episode: it seems like a filler, and did not really move the story forward. My guess is two things were at play: first, with the level of acting talent involved (both the Real Trio, and the Alt. Trio) the writers believed they could get away with lots of improv. Martin, Steve, and Zack have strong improv backgrounds, so it's a plausible hope that they could have pulled it off. But, as you pointed out, it didn't work. BTW, I also liked the tension between Eva and Selena. It was like a big sister/mother not allowing the younger woman (Selena) become the "self" she wants to be. And, we know this is a series-long issue with Mabel. So, just like the inter-generational criticism, the show is not ignoring aspects that have been difficult for some fans to accept. My second thought is, this episode contained clues that we haven't discovered or realized yet. OMITB tends to drop breadcrumbs in early episodes, that have relevance at the end. A couple of possible clues are Howard having the pig in the East Wing: how did the pig get there? Did Howard go to the West Wing? And where is Howard's dog, "Grave-y"? Another clue-in-plain-sight is the Alt Trio being in NYC. Does that mean the entire production crew from Hollywood may already be in The Big Apple? We know the next episode features Stunt Performers; so has pre-production moved East? And does this provide suspects the opportunity to cover things up, or lay new traps? I'm probably being too generous, and it's just a stinker of an episode; but I don't like to think the OMITB folks are just using filler episodes without giving us some story. We'll see.

I think Yas is actually super complex and on a growth arc that is less obvious and perhaps moving more slowly than Robert’s. She is a woman who was born with a silver spoon but who also has serious Mommy & Daddy issues. Watching her seek after discovering her self worth & power thru exploring her sexual autonomy, but also come to realize that even though it benefits her it still limits her, I find interesting. Watching her straddle (lol) the line between sexual empowerment and addiction to that power I think is a mirror to other characters with different kinds of addictions. But she tries so hard and fails to gain respect in a workplace where women have to work so much harder to be taken seriously than men, and then even tho she benefits from she is also dismissed bc of her nepotism- privilege that she was once very ignorant to but is now coming to terms with. She looks up to Harper and observes what it really takes to be successful- ruthlessness as well as an IT factor or talent. both are things that Yas doesn’t have on the floor, but does sexually. I see her trying to model herself after Harper as well as the successful men around her without realizing yet fully how to translate the power she holds sexually to her career (as Maxim brought up). She wants so much to be on Harper’s level and has made bids to be truly vulnerable which Harper has been inconsistent at best in reciprocating. Harper has major trust issues, is cutthroat as a means to protect herself and herself only, and needs competency to respect another person and thus be able to feel validated by their approval. I see Yas’ treatment of Venetia & SP as an indicator of her realization that in this workplace having friendships based on ethics, kindness and trust is not the way to survive at Pierpoint. Women are both dismissed and pitted against each other by the men they work with and for, and Yas sees that along with how successful Harper has become by recognizing this. You can see her considering what of her own ethics and values get in the way of her success. But she did realize with Celeste that she doesn’t want to turn a blind eye to sexually predatory behavior even if it meant giving up a coveted position in WM. I also think it’s super refreshing that, despite all of the above, she and Harper are finding common ground and their friendship is deepening. I think their relationship and both of them as individuals is one of the best parts of the show. Yas is alluring and her body is banging, but I believe there’s complexity wrapped up in her personality and story, and a lot more to be revealed. I would be surprised if we didn’t get let down by more of her decisions, but I do see some growth. Ok, did she literally kill her dad?? Are she and Harper besties now because Harper helped somehow? lol😘
