Not all native were on those rolls. Some of them went into hiding. Thats like using the census as a complete accurate count. 😂 it’s over 200 tribes on the east coast alone. You are flat out ridiculous. It is without a doubt that some folks DO HAVE native ancestors, the video clearly mentions that if you took the time to watch it, or comprehend it. That being said the incredible vast majority of those that claim it DO NOT have it. That’s the entire point of the video. Hearing what you want to in order to attempt to insult me is unfortunate.

Me and my dad go there every time there is a reenactment, it’s absolutely epic. And I remember how I would sit in the bunker sometimes and talk to the reenactors. I even got a chance to talk with Sammy Davis, it is a really good museum, you should 100% go.

In my own opinion, I think the whole subject of ancestry is a bit overrated and possibly pretentious. While it may be interesting to know facts about your family history, to what end is the research being done? I can see the importance of doing the research if it has to do with medical history or if you are just curious, but the fact is that someone's ancestry doesn't really have a whole lot of bearing on what kind of person they become. For instance, actress Brooke Shield find out through a TV show about ancestry, that she was directly related to Louis the XIV King of France, but how many acting jobs did she get because of that fact? Or what titles did she inherit as a result of this family relation? My Grandfather was credited at one time with killing the most bobcats in the US when there was a bounty on them. He was even written up in the magazine "Outdoor Life", but does that make me a great hunter or famous in any way? No, it doesn't. In fact, I don't like hunting at all (no offense intended to hunters, it's just not my thing). What about someone who has a bad temper and justifies it by saying, "I'm Irish" like that makes it okay. One's ancestry is no guarantee of anything. After all, neither you nor your ancestors had any choice in the matter as to whom their parents were'; therefore, one really has no bragging rights when it comes to ancestry. We all stand or fall according to our own merit. The achievements or failings of our ancestors were theirs and theirs alone. It is up to us live our own lives and make our own accomplishments.
I don't claim that my ancestors were cherokee, BUT, during a family tree search, it was found that a Scottish ancestor DID marry an Indian girl somewhere near Charleston, S.C. in the mid 1700's. Her name is lost to history, and that decree of marriage is all that I have, but I believe it. Again, not claiming upper echelon in the tribe, but member of the Native American tribe in general.

People claiming to be Cherokee on the census does help the tribe in terms government services so its not really a bad thing for them and they were the m9st numerous tribe in the south eastern united states so proximity does make them i likely suspect if you do have native ancestors if you're family has southern roots .

I don't know if both my wife's and my history includes Cherokee or not. But her father (maybe full or half blood) always said to not let anybody know for fear that his family would be a target. In my history I was told my fathers father was full blooded. He would make his living partly through medical plants he would sell to hospitals. It would be nice to know what is true. some day we would like to fine out.
