To be fair, when he paid 125k for the club it had 1m of debt. So he effectively paid 1.125m so even the 495k price is less than half what he actually paid.
great video mate, was just wondering if you could look into doing a video on the owner of Chester City in the late 90s / Early 2000s. It's a similar situation and I think it would make a great watch, brilliant video again :)
Great video mate im a scunthorpe fan were flying high in the 6th tier and we had a chairman who made us a mess but even he wasnt as bad as that piece of scum you had i would like to say congratulations to your club and fans..... The piece of shit you had i hope he gets what he deserves.... Waster
The man was truly the Nero of world football. I’m convinced he had some sort of mental disorder, there’s no other explanation for the sheer insanity and malevolence he held for 10+ years
Talking about Welsh football, they have an interesting statistic of having the only Welsh side to reach the group stage not be a Welsh representative. Let me explain, Swansea ruined the hopes and dreams of humanity a decade or so ago by beating 4th tier Bradford City in the League Cup Final and then somehow representing England even though Wales is not in fact a city in England. Flash forward to yesterday when The New Saints became the first Cymru Premier Division side to reach an European group stage even though they’re based in Oswestry England. England of course not being a city in Wales. If it finishes like this and if let’s say for example that Merthyr Tydfil and Berwick win the English and Scottish FA Cups this season and if TNS wins the Cymru Premier League then we’d have a weird scenario where Wales and Scotland would be represented by England whereas England would be represented by Wales.
I am from Latvia and I got this video in my recommendations. I'm a footy fan, but had no idea why would I get this vid. And then...wow. Yeah. This is madness.
I’ve always like Barry Town as I had family ties there. And I support a team much like Town in Torquay United. We even share the same colours. Not only that we too have been through the mill. Two owners who were quite mad. The first one bought the club using a Walsall guys pension fund. Poor guy. I met him and this levering guy was just like him. Then Clarke Osborne. Never let this guy anywhere near Barry Town. His only interest is development. And that involves buying the club. Getting the stadium and building houses on it. I have really enjoyed seeing Barry back in the premier league. I’m not sure They will ever get the big crowds back like the 80’s and 90’s. But you can only dream. This was a great video covering everything you could imagine and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will enjoy seeing Barry Town win the league again. Someone’s got to stop TNS.
Isn't a similar thing happening to the Wurzburg Kickers in Germany? They were as high as Bundesliga 2 (2nd tier). Now they're in the Regionalliga (4th tier). They've gotten progressively worse over the past decade.
If you decide to start uploading again, Enfield FC would be a good one. The Liverpool of non-league football and were also destroyed by their owner, but had fans create the very first fan owned club and have made it all the way to the Vanarama South this season... 2 promotions from the EFL and were unable to be promoted back before the club were destroyed.
I’m not familiar with welsh leagues however I worked for brief stint at Cefn Druids I’m aware what des Williams folded the team and is now looking to enter them again from what I’m aware he has ruined this Welsh club that had a history in Europe also I believe he still the owner of druids
Hearts supporter here. We also had a destructive owner, but thanks to the interventional of an inspirational local businesswoman and the dedication of the supporters, it's now the largest fan-owned club in the UK. Last season we finished 3rd, qualified for Europe and averaged 18,000 at home. This is the way to go for any club that wants to avoid unhinged and destructive owners. After all, fan ownership hasn't done Barcelona or Bayern any harm...
I remember seeing the name Barry Town in the newspaper when checking the early round European draws every year to see who the Irish clubs would be playing back in the 90s.
