It's not about getting known or appreciated, in fact in life you won't always receive those in the way you want. The point is to build your self discipline to put all your effort and focus on even the smallest tasks, that's why he said how you do one thing is how you do everything. The small habits and tasks are what builds you up for success. Ofcourse this shouldn't come at the cost of your health, but having that mentality will push you light years ahead.
