As a white person, this song hurts me to hear. I can only imagine how it must have felt for a lady from the affected community to sing that song at that time. It is beautiful but so horrific at the same time.
Im thankfull the GOOD PEOPLE WORLDWIDE have been able to change this world slowly. Otherwise these atrocities and many other atrocities would affect us to this day.
If you truly don't believe the FBI didn't ruin her career for singing this song. You should do more history work as to other instances the FBI did in tracking people; in the 50-60s the FBI would stalk and read govermen officials mail (there was actually a movement of gay republicans at the time) to find any link to their sexuality and force them to quit and ruined their lives over something un important as who someone was attracted to. So dont fool yourself into thinking they didn't do the same with people involved in activists fighting desegregation
Conservatives get so defensive over american history because they do feel the shame. They struggle to try to convince the rest of us that the way things were is how things should be
Cette innocence est limite bizarre. Ce faire passer pour un ange, seul une mauvaise personne pourrait le faire, les bonnes personnes n'ont pas besoin de dire qu'il sont bon , bref
WP try to erase history. This is why they wanted the song stopped. The raw and reality of the words was too honest for the white folk. Watching The United States vs. Billie Holiday now. RIP queen.
