Thanks for stopping by! The purpose of this channel is to talk about knives, watches, and whatever other gear is striking me at the moment. You'll also see a lot of knife disassemblies here, so hopefully those can be of some use to you. Let's have a good time!
You are sharpening that way too much. You need to try and learn to use a good quality butchers steel between a few uses instead. 👍 my kitchen knives that I use hard… I haven’t sharpened them in over 10 years. I even process game with them. I just run em on the steel any time the edge is lacking and they come right back. There is no need to belt sand em every month. It’s a waste of steel. Hope you consider this. I’m a Master Butcher BTW. I haven’t done it for work in a while but once you get the rank you keep it. Good luck with all the fun stuff!
Thanks for watching! I haven't had Uncle Nearest enough to make an informed comment. The basic JD is more of a 1 trick pony. EW had more depth of flavor. But I'm still choosing Larceny over all.
Buck knifes company did agreat job replenishing my 50 year old 110 it was a tool i careried on my belt as a maintenance welder and mechanic wore the blade down and bent the rocker arm through the years of work. I found on utube that buck had a lifetime warranty on buck knifes , 3-2023 i sent it in to buck and about 6-7 weeks later i got the knife back. They did a beautiful job new blade new rocker and clean and polish. I bought a new 110 at Wal-Mart while waiting for the old buck to come back , their is some different, the old brass-edges are more sharp, the new buck brass are more rounded the old has 3 pins in the handle where the new has 4 pins in the handle . Will i am retired and wore out might get to go hunting maybe fishing do some camping .
Two very different knives. Blade shapes, handle shape, handle materials, weight and designed usage. Looks like you just grabbed two knives from your "collection" and did a comparison.
Two different knives from the same designer. The point is that if you’re interested in the designer’s work, there is finally an affordable option available. I literally said this in the video.
Why do you prefer nitro v over 14c28n? Dr. Larrin Thomas steel chart says they have the same hardness score at 3, but the 14c28n scored 9. in toughness and 8.5 in corrosion resistance compared to nitro Vs 7.5 and 7. Although, I do understand that other factors can play a role. Which is why I'm curious
Sure thing, I was basing my perspective on it from Cedric & Ada’s endurance cut tests on the two steels where he had a slightly better result from Nitro V. That only tests edge durability however, and he also admits it’s far less scientific than the testing that Larrin Thomas does - so I would definitely go with Larrin’s info, which is awesome, I’m glad to hear he had some great results from 14C28N!
I just received my "ONE" in the mail yesterday with black stonewashed bolsters and black VG10 handle. I have to say I'm pretty blown away at the build quality and action. Mine fires like a rocket and the sound is crazy. Maybe it's the steel bolsters, but the acoustics are just so satisfying. As you mentioned, it's a hefty piece in the hand with vault-like lockup. Feels like a tank in a smallish package. The blade is insane with a swedged harpoon plus compound grind and blood-groove fuller. The thumb disc, milled pcoket clip and seemless trasition between G10 and boldsters all say quality. Congrats to Begg Knives, Kirby Lambert and Jared Van Otterloo on a great collab. At this price point - BUY IT!
@retirementOwl "swedged harpoon" that's perfect. And yes I was blown away as well and still am. This is in the pocket at least once a week if not more. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great review gents. Interesting tidbit since you were going over some of the history of the sr71. The original designation for it was actually rs71. I'm glad you're enjoying the design and appreciate the subtleties.
Lady Galadriel, born in Aman as one of the Noldor, daughter of Finarfin, and younger sister to Finrod Felagund (later King of Nargothrond), Angrod, and Aegnor, who took part in the Exile of the Noldor, following Fëanor in his rebellion, however, she opposed the Kinslaying at Alqualondë and crossed the Helcaraxë with the rest of Fingolfin followers, and after arriving in Beleriand, lived mainly in Doriath, where she befriended Melian and later, with her husband Celeborn, ruled over the woodland Elves of Lothlórien, and had a daughter, Celebrían, who married Elrond, is very disappointed that you misquoted her.
I want one so badly, but the reputation of button locks makes me wary to get one, I don’t need a triad lock but I do want something that can take a bit before disengaging
Great vid! I just picked up my first zodiac super sea wolf 1953 model, z09123 and im in love! Just curious as to how your watches have held up since the making of this video. Was kind of hesitant with STP movements, but once I put it on my wrist I couldn't resist. Thanks!
enjoyed the video. the beginning driving part was kind of odd to watch, 2 guys wearing the exact same sunglasses, and the driver is on the right? what kind of car/truck is that?
Haha yes. We both wear cowboy hats and aviators. My truck is a 2018 Ram 1500. The camera is in selfie mode so we could see ourselves and make sure the camera stayed framed up. Thanks for watching!
