We are locals who live on Prewitt Ridge & Alm's Ridge in Big Sur, Ca. An amazing place for hang gliders, campers & hikers. Our unsurpassed views & beauty has had an explosion of guests that like to enjoy the beauty of our National forest. Unfortunately, the road is suffering terribly with all the traffic on it. The Forestry has no budget for the road. However Fort Hunter Liggitt has actually stepped up & are currently cleaning out water bars & grading the road. We desperately need rock & rock base but have no funds. We want everyone to enjoy the scenic beauty we have to offer. We have started a Go Fund Me campaign to help restore & maintain the road. We are asking group, clubs & organizations to help contribute, share on FB, Instagram,Twitter & other friends and family who love our natural forest & who would like to help keep this area accessible for all of us. Please consider helping us. We thank you in advance for any donations. Everything helps....and remember to enjoy but leave no trace! Help us save ourselves from ourselves. You love Big Sur, now please write the check, the second most visited place in USA. We need you now! Thanks - Colleen Wilson (you can find me on FB) & Tom Collins Click here to support Big Sur Road Restoration - Help enjoy the beauty! organized by Tom Collins
Man awesone spot so long as the water level isnt to low. Hella easy to find. Just take the 101 south past salinas, past king city, Gonzales all that and youll see the signs for arro seco. There's a little road right there off the 101 south. If your familiar with those towns its quick. Once there dont take the river back to the second spot there jumping. Go on the ròad above the river and save a ton of time. Taking the river is dope and there is a couoke spots to jump as well as a nice little waterfall off in the cut but its rattle snake country. Ticks also so be prepared! The second rock there jumping is scetchy when the level of water is lower. Possible just have to aim for a little pool off to the left! If you go past that youll find the real sketchy rocks to jump. A couple 45 to 50 footers a good 70 footer and a 100+ foot monster. Ive bbn only seen one person do it and they got a huge gushing nose bleed from the impact. Then its a serious climb to get back up. Id advise not to bother getting in down there. Waters pitch black and still. Deep deep deep and creepy. That rock in the video is about as far as i tend to go. Have fun
+Jessica Ting if you're taking Highway 1 north on your way to Big Sur, you would make a right turn on the Nacimiento Fergusson Rd and take it all the way to the top of the mountain. At the top you make a right turn on the Coast Ridge Trail. There's not a campground per say but depending how adventurous you are and the type of vehicle you have, there's lot's of places to explore and camp at along the ridge. If you plan to have a fire check, the current restriction and bring a fire permit. :)
Airline Hwy, Panoche Rd, New Idria Rd, a bit of a back track and back down to Airline Hwy to Bitterwater. From King City, Jolon Rd to Naciemento Ferguson Rd via fort Hunter Liggett. There's a few camps site past Fort Hunter Liggett and a bunch of non conventional sites as well. Drops you down into Big Sur with some amazing views.
Thank you for your beautiful videos, sscrammy. This is the second of yours I've stumbled upon, neighbor. This one's great for those of us who love the water and Santa Cruz! It makes me cheer! (the last one I found of yours and shared before it went away made me cry. I think you'll know the one.). Thanks for what you do - Dr. P
I used adobe "after effects" for the special effects. We hiked to Hawkins Peak and then did the loop nearby. Took about 3 1/2 hours. Bring lot's of water.
are you from around the pozo area? this is my home riding area :). hope you had fun out here. there was recently a fire that burned all of the staging areas. well done going up the stairsteps by the way, most of us here dont even bother lol. we just figure we will enjoy ourselves more if we dont expell all our energy going up. ;)
