There is a meaning and a purpose. He goes up here to move railcars to the north yard. It's either for storage or like Gavin said. CP G61, the train that runs the brockville sub at night and very rarely day time. Would come out to gran railcars and go back to Smiths Falls. But he can go in the south yard too so i'm guessing they are moving it up to storage. Yes it happens often. I saw it before 2-3 times. Even 586 and 585 use it (the freights that work around Brockville)
Great catches! I could hear myself talking through facetime. Imagine 120 thought the van was on the tracks and decided to put the emergency breaks for a few seconds lol. It was really close. Also did they fix the broken track tie. 120 could've also derailed on the van

Im a railfanner from the Mont-Joli subdivision and i sometimes go on the Montmagny sub, i see that you saw cn 402, you got lucky with shave and a haircut, normally cn 4p2 and 403 crew, the one there, is nice, and if you would have been there a few days ago, you would have seen 402 with 2 Ontario northland sd40-2s without a single cn engine(cn 402 doss Joffre to Mont-Joli) so yeah i wish you good day and thanks for coming to the area!
