I'm sorry. The backs are completely uncovered. Defenders are 20 yards from them. Montana would have checked down underneath all the way down the field before risking tight throws into coverage like that. Craig had 92 catches in '85. 76 in '88. Rathman had 73 in '89. The point of the West Coast was ball control using high percentage passes to backs. It came from the Bengals not being able to run against the Steelers in the 70s. 2.
