You never know: You still can find them if you’re lucky . Mexican collectors have been finding them , even the bags are out there. But they are from the 1930’s very old !
@@stephenbahrmarbles yes i see but it didn't clear to me how to actually get them from the plant I mean when the flowers will be dry on the plant or how?
Yes , after they bloom they will develop seeds at thier bloom heads . You’ll need to let them bloom and develop. The seeds will ripen and dry out. All three of these vines produce similar little ball shaped seeds . Harvest them in the fall and plant them in the spring. They will often fall off and sow on thier own as well each spring. Welcome to the hobby . These are easy plants to learn with and lots of fun to grow. You will like them !
Greeting from New Zealand; I am a Chinese art school student and have only been collecting marbles seriously for a week now, after a long period of some repressed thoughts when I was a kid in the early 2010s: Living in Malaysia only cats' eye marbles and "clearies" exist, whereas on the internet there exists all kinds of opaque pastel swirls everywhere with family refusing to buy them! Didn't occur to me to have the power to get some myself until now so I impulsively spent nearly half a grand USD on nothing but vintages... Let's hope I can earn that amount back after satisfying childhood urges, haha.
At one point in time marbles were played with and extremely popular for kids. I don’t think those heydays will ever happen like that again. They like do to race them now, otherwise they have just become very popular collectables.
Like I said in the video “Please take heed: the lot is now privately owned, there is no trespassing permitted and that no trespassing clause is strictly enforced “ have you ever been escorted off a property while looking down the barrel of a shotgun? It’s happened here, and could happen to you here .
Thanks Josh, Im not sure but I think this was all happening a little before you got the marble bug. Otherwise you would have been there. Looking forward- you never know when a site will become dig friendly but anything’s possible ….and your’e local!
I’ve seen one of these hiking , at first I thought it was a hummingbird, and was surprised it was flying towards me (because most hummingbirds are timid) but got a closer look and took off running. It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen!
Loved the opportunity to visit the town over 20 years ago and see marble sites with Ron Shepherd and my marble friend, Ron Shaw...both deceased now. We had a morning of fun with Ron Shepherd digging a few Cairo Agate marble examples and glass cullet. Had a few pieces of large glass cullet made into large shooter marbles and kept a purple marbles melted cluster.
I love Cairo mibs.. I've got close to 100 that I'm aware of , I've got 30 lbs or so I need to sort thru when I get time . I just keep buying but never make time to organize.... I guess I'll do that when I'm older . Thank you for sharing your knowledge it's greatly appreciated. Later man
Hi Jeff. Ok cool ✅ Yes I will be there, I don’t think RU-vid removed your comment. I can see it here. Or maybe you posted something specific that they didn’t like. Who knows? I uploaded an earlier version of this video a few hours ago and had to delete it because of audio issues. But I think that is a separate issue. Looking forward to seeing you in Minneapolis!
I have 8 or 9 mason jars of marbles my grandmother collected, she was born in the 1920's....they are very old and in very very good condition. Where is the best place to have them appraised. I live in the Tallahassee Florida area
I have 8 old Mason jars full of marbles my grandmother collected, she was born in the 1920's...I don't know where when or how she acquired them...wish I knew an expert to help me know exactly what I have. I feel like the potential for finding some very rare ones in this collection is very good.
Hi love cats eyes becoming very collectable but you might like to know japan produced its first cats eyes way back in 1924 under duck brand cheers john
Warning: Contact with the leaves and flowers of trumpet creeper results in skin redness and swelling among mammals. It is also slightly toxic if ingested
Cool find Molly! You should be able to get a good idea what they are with a little research. There were alot of companies making machine-made marbles for over a century now. Check out online identification resources and watch a few more videos to help yourself figure it out . Enjoy your marbles search! 🔴
To Stephon and Ron, Hello my name is Guy, I live in Los Angles California, I have been watching and listening to guys for a couple of weeks. My doctor had advised me to p/u a hobby do to some of my health issues. So two weeks ago I happened to be pulling weeds in the garden and found a yellow cat eye marble. I cleaned it up to put it with the rest of my marbles that I have had in a cigar box that my grandfather had given to me while I was a kid. ( These marbles had belonged to my Dad and my uncle's when they were growing up). I had opened that in a while so it was like opening up a treasure box. I got curious and then you guys peaked my interest. I had been watching and taking notes and all, it was just like reading a book, i could hardly wait to get your next chapter. Then I get to the part about your loss and Ron's passing. With a heavy heart, I'd like to thank you both. Prayers are with you, you're families and all of your friends. God Bless, keep up the good work guys.
Thank you for the note Guy, and welcome to the fine hobby of marble collecting. I’m sure Ron would be happy to know you are watching his videos! He was a great student and teacher to all of us and is very much missed. Enjoy the hobby my friend!
Donald that is amazing! You must be so proud! Please email me at sbahr@scarletknights.com I am currently editing a follow up Cairo Novelty video, if there is anything you would like me to share in that video I would love to include it!
