I am an native Montgomerian. In my sixties, I've always been impressed with Birmingham with it's up north type of vibe,but not with the bull Connor,church bombing days,inspire of y'all's minor progress ,y'all will never progress to the full capacity like other major Southern hubs, because of civil rights stigma combined with Montgomery facial politics, unwillingness of neighborsing cities to pool resources for the total good , that makes y'all look unattractive just like Montgomery, and stank with backwardness.

Downtown B'ham is long long overdue for that new change. The city has great potential and had a chance to be the new Atlanta but they missed the boat. Now they are playing some catch up. I still say watch out ! because Huntsville is coming fast, one of the fastest growing cities in the US. They are not playing around, to compare B'ham to Charlotte , Charlotte blows B'ham away. It's the new Atlanta for sure. Don't be surprised about those dark horse cities like Montgomery or maybe Mobile. One of those cities might just come out the wood work and blow everyone away. It has happened in other places. Look at Raleigh, Austin, Tampa etc. now those cities are beating out a lot of cities

I've been looking up so many videos about the Birmingham downtown area. By far this is the most informative video I've seen about Birmingham. I am a career Machinist and the more I research the area the more I see how my quality of life can improve by moving there. I am currently on edge about relocating and after seeing this I feel like I need to build the next chapter of my life in Birmingham. Thank you for such an amazing video. Although I cannot purchase a house right now, I feel like renting an apartment would be my only option for now. This there any way you can help?

Great looking tiny home! If you had two More feet in the width you could build a bar opposite the kitchen. In the lounging area, instead of that wall of windows you could have an entry way with access to a double storage closet. You could put a sectional couch wrapping around the rest of the space and still have a large window for a view! Storage in a tiny is at a premium and this design would give you that! I love your kitchen and bedroom areas! Cheers from Canada! a

With the current forest fire situation, lumber prices are going to soar beyond belief. This unit is now what" $175K. By December these will triple in cost..
I’m thinking about buying a house in the country with land. Are these rural areas safe in AL? I’m in FL but house prices here are outrageous and I’ve noticed AL prices are much lower. I’m also not a fan of AL income tax as I don’t pay any now so that would set me back a couple hundreds.
Good Morning..personally I believe most of the rural areas you would consider buying in are safe. I can't attest to every area of course but it's rare to hear of anything like break in issues. We're fortunate in the Bham metro area in that we have lots of "bedroom" communities outside of the city that offer a really good lifestyle with amenities close by. Our real estate prices are very low compared to FL as are our ad valorem taxes. Some of that is offset by our personal state income tax but the state has just done a roll back of our grocery tax so that's a bonus too. If we can help you in the future please keep us in mind. The #1 reason people buy tiny homes is to live a debt free lifestyle- to be able to have a home and not a huge mortgage. The 2nd biggest reason is to be able to take their home wherever they need to go. This builder clearly doesn’t get it. I would love to build and live in a tiny home I can pay cash for - the problem is finding parking for these tiny homes. There just are not enough tiny home communities out there. The existing tiny home communities are full with long waiting lists.

my reason for wanting a tiny home is to downsize from a 1600SF home. being 72 years old, i don't wanna move my tiny home...just find a great tiny home community and be at peace. i don't want a cheaply made home, i figure if i spend what i make from the sale of my current home and still have a few pennies left over and i get all of my wants/needs met.... i am happy. its almost as if you googled "tiny homes" and came up with your two reasons....lots of retired people out there with a few extra pennies that are drawn to this type of experinece......
The tiny home life can be very rewarding if you find the right setting to place it in. We are surrounded by numerous lakes and the Appalachian foothills so there are lots of scenic set-up areas.

@@richardcadena7746 I have been researching tiny homes for years - I love the idea of living in a tiny home community- the problem is there a few tiny home communities in America and all of them are at full capacity- there seems to be much more demand for these communities than there are communities- about the only one I know of that may have spaces is about an hour out of Knoxville Tennessee- those communities are being built now. The problem I have is that I want to remain in NW Arkansas. There are a lot of factors In considering a tiny home and they are not without their problems but I would be willing to adjust to live in a home I own outright without a mortgage
I am a retired architect and builder living in Arizona. For years I had a fairly steady practice putting extraordinary interiors into my new homes and remodels. The budget minimum was around $600 per square foot with the most expensive being almost $1,000 per square foot. Everything was hand made by artisans. The materials were sourced from all over the world. Craftsmanship was perfection with no exceptions. These homes rivaled the most luxurious super yachts and private plane interiors. Construction time was usually three years.

@@livinginbirminghamalmetroarea that they must sell is so sad. Putting your heart and soul into a project and the having to give it up is a real test of character. How many times did your dad spend a year building a home, handing over the keys and never seeing it again. My stuff was very private; I never expected to be invited over for dinner. 🙁
