My name is Gerald Ward aka Chap the Piper! This channel was setup to chart my journey from when i began to learn the Uilleann Pipes (Late October 2015) to the present.
The videos you will see will be a mixture of some good and some not so good efforts of me attempting to handle these brilliant but awkward instruments.
This channel has also been purposed to show Silage videos i am directly or indirectly involved with.
Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos
Define learning away at it. Some perspective hyar: A few months back I got me a cheapo set of practice pipes to simply learn the pumping. I am sure you know what this is like: 10 min of focusing on a steady sound, while the thing puts out the musical equivalent of a 1958 Studebaker car horn stuck. But I got me a half, NAY! a full set! on order from Eire so I best get on with my practice, wot? You sounded damned good. Thanks for sharing.
ThatHawiianCelticThingShirtGuy excellent! Yep it take some getting used to the rhythm and the pumping really puts manners on a person lol been at it now just over 2 years so much learning still to do but now and again it all comes together when the drones and chanter are in tune and it's all worth it! Good luck on your journey keep at it and you won't be disappointed!
Simon DoyleFamily Thanks very much! I took 10 videos of different tunes and between laptop failure and the children interrupting this was the only video that stuck lol
Not easy playing on a warm day outside among the nettles and Ive never played with Mark before but they insisted in recording us on only our second attempt lol Great days craic!
