If this is true, why does the government give you 1000 dollars per month of welfare in USA or 500 euros per month of welfare in Italy if you're perfectly normal?
This might be weird but there’s this smile squad vid with a girl with Down syndrome and she’s such a good roast actor so this guy said “Hey, do you ever wish you didint have Down syndrome?” “No I love being myself… “Did you wish you diidnt have any teeth?” 😂 Btw everyone loves u
I have a friend who I grew up with and she has ds. Everyone says she's childish and acts like a baby (she is 14) and she doesn't. She has a helper and that makes the assumptions worse because she "can't do things on her own" she acts like that because everyone treats her like a 5 year old then talk shit about how she acts. Yes she sometimes acts younger than her age but if absolutely everyone treated you like you were a toddler your whole life then yea, she's also still young just because she doesn't do drugss or has sex like some of the other kids at my school plus her having ds doesn't mean she's a baby. She told me that "I have my period now so they need to treat me like I'm 14" broke my heart.
I worked in group homes for adults with developmental disabilities for years, and yes, always assume they can do anything they put their minds to, just like anyone else can! It's always made me made to see people assume that someone can't do something just because they may be a little different, or they have different challenges than other people have. And just like any other person, the more you push, challenge and encourage, the more they will rise to the occasion! Don't be shocked when they do, assume they were always capable! Enjoy that f'n margarita girl!
As sibling of intellectual disabled autistic person I need more ads and tips like this. My sibling is adult, choses theirself not to drink even non-alco beer, not to swear, not to learn about sex. I asked them and they told me so I know. I treat them with respect, like any other person, just speaking the way they can choose answer and waiting a bit for response. But still I need to be reminded of how much they can achieve on their own. I am sure I still make mistakes that I am not aware of. Therefore I need to learn. Where to search for non biased sources?
you realize you'll start crying like a bish if people stop treating you like a special snowflake? and that a worker, like the bartender, can get into trouble for not treating you like a person with down syndrome?
You are not what you think you are. Whoever taught her that is horrible. Think big, dream bigger is a nice thing to teach young woman like her. Teaching them they are whatever they think they are is just setting them up for failure. So if you think you are a pirate, you are one? If you think you’re a gorilla, you are one? Teach our young correctly so that they can achieve everything in life then teaching them woke ideology and setting them up to fail. I grew up with my sister who has Down syndrome and we taught her to think big and dream bigger and you can achieve whatever you set your mind to and guess what, she got married last year and bought her own home last month.
