The Bookshop Sisterhood sounds good! I love books about books and I love stories about friendship. I just got a copy of One Star Romance as well and I look forward to reading it.
I currently order them directly from Leuchtturm 1917 directly, but I have seen them in bookstores with paper/journal sections, and specialty stores (pen, stationery and sometimes gift) as well. :)
I really love this idea of the step pages you made. I am new to bujo, only done it last year and this year so far, buy I would like to try some of your ideas. For some reason I can't seem to get off the idea of one spread being one week. I've been miserly with my pages, so I need to open up and spread my wings. You also gave me a few awesome ideas for tracking. I saw the dutch door in another video which was cute.
Thank you!! It's probably my favorite part of the setup. I totally get being miserly with the pages. It took me a while to get comfortable using more pages BUT I'm also a planner (shocking, I know) and got over that by figuring out approx. how many pages I'd use for each section. For example, my Jan - June book had 50-60 pages for my beginning of year set up and I knew i could have 20-30ish pages per month. Obviously some months I barely use pages and others like February used a lot, but it all kinda balances out.
YES!! I knew I'd heard a name for them and was completely blanking. I love how it all blends together, too. Every time I see it it brings me so much joy.
I commend your self control in fountain pen purchases. I started head-first into the bottled ink world, as my first fountain pen I bought was the Twsbi Eco. As you love using black ink, I HIGHLY recommend trying Platinum Carbon Black pigment ink. It’s really well behaved in basically any pen, and it’s super bleed and feather resistant.
Good to know! Adding the ink to my list! I kinda wish I went head first into bottled ink because I have cartridges know that I never use and even when I think about getting a new pen I automatically check to see if I can get a converter at the same time, if needed.
Love this! Btw, you can try a Majohn A1 which is a clone of the VP if you want to try it out first. I have an A2 which is the same as an A1 and a VP but has a plastic body and I have a real Pilot VP nib unit in it. I love it! I also have two other actual Pilot VP’s but the one with Majohn body is lighter and is my favorite.
Thanks for your video, I really enjoyed it. You can easily fill your Twsbi Eco pens with a syringe, just pull out the nib and feed, make sure the piston is retracted all the way, you get a really good fill that way
Ooooh. Good to know, especially when I want to use an ink sample! I tried removing the nib when I first got it and couldn't get it out. so I'll try again.
I'm struggling! The closest store to me is a bit out of the way for me to get to so I think that's what's stopping me from getting everything. But with the weather getting nicer, I may be stopping by a bit more often.
enjoyed hearing about your fountain journey. Like you, I also started with ef and f and am enjoying venturing into the meadium, broad, and even stub nib world! My surprise moment was when I got my Pilot prera in the cursive medium...which to me just looks like a regular stub...and was just amazed at how fancy my writing suddenly looked and how different the same ink colour looked too!
I started out with all EF pens and was put off by thicker line weights, but now I love my M and Stub nibs so much and still use my EFs too! Fountain pens are so much fun. 😊❤
So much fun!! I think I was skeptical of thicker FP nibs because I don't like how thicker ballpoint or gel pens write, but it is completely different with a FP. And you really do need the thicker line weight for some inks.
Great video! Super cool intro to the different options for beginners. My first FP was a Pilot Metropolitan and I got spoiled because Pilot’s nibs are just so smooth. I quickly ended up buying pens I couldn’t afford 😅 Just a note for the future- hope you don’t mind this unsolicited correction- but TWSBI is spelled with the W before the S and the pronunciation is the same (so Twis-bee)! Hope this helps 😊
I've heard that the Pilots are really smooth. I'm actually considering grabbing a Metropolitan cause I like the profile of them. And thanks for the note! I'll definitely correct moving forward!
When I don’t feel like reading, I usually watch a favorite tv show for a few days then try reading again. For some reason that combo tends to bring me out of a slump
I did the same thing. Convinced myself for all of December that putting my books in my everyday journal was fine; but this week I am setting up a reading journal 😂
The minute I found myself really thinking about what to include and plotting spreads, I figured I had to cave. I like the idea of dedicating a whole book to it, as opposed to a page or two in my regular bujo. Good luck with the set up.
To write straight I put a sheet of grid paper with one edge to guide me along the invisible line I want to write on. I know I'm starting to tilt when the grid paper tilts diagonal. Its easier to see the tilt because of the grid markings. Then I move the grid paper down, when I want to write on the next line. And so forth.
