Where Can I Download The Original Sprites, Models And Assets From I Need Them To Make A Fanmade Second Season Since The Show Just Had One Single Season
Great idea! You'd have to remake them in Flash since they're owned by Disney, but maybe they'll share the Flash assets one day, if enough fans ask for it.
Thanks for watching! As far as I know they're still posted online somewhere, I don't have any rights to them myself. Nickelodeon sometimes includes these in their DVD releases, I think that's how these usually get out into the public eye.
Thanks for the comment! Translation to English: "oh! I guess some foreigners have finally realized how good this movie is. Hayao Miyazaki's memorable debut work When Spielberg saw the car chase in this movie, he said, ``I don't have the confidence to surpass this movie, so I won't make it.'' A work full of romance by Hayao Miyazaki I lined up the day before the release and saw it three times on the day. Brochures are kept neatly When I die, I'll be cremated with you (I won't give it to anyone) If you haven't seen this movie, don't tell me you like Hayao Miyazaki."
Thanks! I suspect by the time I get to #70 I'll be looking back at this one thinking "Ahh, I could've done better" :D But that's how we constantly improve.
How does this only have 500 views?? A professor showed my class this when I was in college and I was blown away! It even inspired me to make my own version for an assignment!
Ahh, those are the only two Maggie episodes I animated on! But I have other breakdowns here, thanks for checking it out :) ru-vid.com/group/PLfI3qrmj07WraL6ZxhBNerVUwE-IA_ofn
Thanks for watching! I've done pixel art for several of my own projects, this was my first professional one though, usually I work in 3d and mocap these days.
This sure brings back memories! Great comments, Paul! My favourite inbetween/cleanup was working on the karate deer in slow mo' (animated in 3's) with Paul Boyd's wonderful guidance!
I've been looking into a lot about this show as of late and I really appreciate seeing a breakdown of some of the work you did here! It's interesting seeing the show and its assets in their proper form and learning little things that went into the animation here. That sort of glitchy jitter you did with Pupert as his heart breaks was quite clever and a fun effect for its time. Also, now that you've mentioned it, that face you made out of the mud is now my favorite character in the show.
Ahhh thanks much Christian! Yeah, this might be my favorite one so far, I was putting in 20 hours a week on it without having to force anything, nice when it all flows.
"This was dogpounds last episode" not if you count the hologram scene from the weird world of wyrm😂😂😂😂 but its super cool how you got to animate 29s of a tmnt episode. I loved watching it and you are amazing
Everything is "work for hire" so it's all owned in perpetuity by the company that hired us. But yeah, hopefully they will share all those fla's one day, would be great to make those public.
@@8bit_paul the show ended quite a while back so if someone (or you if you have any) releases some files, i dont think anything bad would happen and they might not care, also thanks for answering :)
i used to have the NTSC version of this. the sound was the original recording which sounds correct. all you can find online these days are the PAL recordings, which are pitch shifted up by one and sound "too bright". there used to be an NTSC recording online, got pulled, we never saw it again :(
Great video! Loved seeing you break it down and explain your thought process, even how you felt about your own drawn hands. Takes a lot of courage to admit that. As an animator currently in Vancouver, it sure is inspiring to watch this while also somewhat depressing. Would love to see studios like Intl. Rocketship pop back up and bring a unique flavour to Vancouver once more. You definitely wouldn't see this much unique creative freedom nowadays in current studio pipelines. Hope to meet you and others apart of these great productions one day!
Thanks so much! If you want to connect with me on Linkedin we can compare stories. I'm currently employed at Waterproof Studios and loving it there, the days of analog creativity are past but there are still quality experiences and employers out there. - Paul Johnson
Ahh thanks much Christian! Of all my short films, that one took me the longest at 900 hours, I went through so much research and reference from those old 70's-80's Shaw Brothers films. I try to stay under about 300-350 hours per film now :)
Much appreciated! Growing up playing the first 3 Mega Mans it was a great chance to take a deep dive into the lore and history, I'm glad it's evident how much fun I had working on it :)
Another great breakdown! Do you have any plans for Brad Bird's "The Iron Giant?" It was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, and it's a shame that it didn't pick up more attention on it's release. I'd love to see your insight on it. Take care, Paul!
Thanks for the idea! But I better not, since they're technically owned by Dentsu and DHX, I like my 28-year career too much to jeopardize it at this point :)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 05 for the Nickelodeon Animation 2012 Series - a terrific testament to team-work trust & collaboration! Nickelodeon Animation had Bardel Entertainment Inc do a handful of TMNT Ep for S.01. Then we did 1/2 of the ep for S.02 to S.04. But for S.05 the trust & collaboration between Nick & Bardel had grown to such a level that Bardel worked on all of the ep for S.05 The project staffing needed between S.04 & S.05 doubled. We went from 01 Light/Comp Team & 04 Animation Teams to 02 LRC / 08 Anim Teams! The expectations & general workflow from the earlier Seasons also levelled up. S.01/02 has two asset setups (city/sewer). S.03 had the additional setup of the countryside. S.04 had the additional setup of outer space. S.05 had many more asset setups with the addition of more char & previously untapped storylines! In spite of all the new challenges everyone rose to the occasion and ep like the one that former TMNT Series 2012 Lead Animator Paul Johnson breaks down here were some of the best Booyakasha animation that I have had the pleasure of being involved with. Attached for fun is a pic of the TMNT Series 2012 Bardel S.05 floor-plan- showing all the Team names that LRC Vivek Shenoy & Animation Directors Carlyle Wilson & Chris Woods loved using. Thanks greatly again Paul for keeping the memories alive! - ToNy (Production Protagonist) Power PS - TRACKER - the good ole Bardel Entertainment Tracker with the shots "Bingo Box" style. It had limited ways of doing things but that tracker worked terrific for all 05 Seasons of TMNT! We never had any issues keeping track of any shot status even with 02 Comp and 08 Animation Teams on the go all the time for Season 05.
Awesome stuff as always Mr. Power! It's been a terrific journey these past 6 months revisiting all 5 seasons of Turtles, episode by episode that I worked on. Great memories, hoping other people can do the same and recap the terrific work we did on that show.
4:20 That man is using his body to counter the weight of the falling door so it doesn't fall to fast. he is being lifted because the door is heavier. "it takes 10 men to open this gate" and there are only 5 men there. in the next scene the door can be seen closing slower than it would be if it was just dropped. As the door goes down the rope is unwound.
Paul Johnson - a terrific trio of projects - to this day I am thankful for working on all these stories with so many talented artists! Thanks again so very much for highlighting these projects and for going over the magical 2D FX methods! The FX Dept's attention to detail was amazing & always appreciated!
Thanks much Mr. Power! Distant and fading memories now, glad to have made this video before it gets too far away to properly recall. Good foundations were set there.
One thing I've noticed in these older films is the sheer amount of work and detailing that goes into scenes like these that have such short run times. If you blink, you'll almost miss it. Yet, they add so much charm! I'm not well-versed in the art of animation or filmmaking, but I would argue that it takes a tremendous amount of patience and dedication when it comes to creating scenes like these. Especially in the days of Cel animation! It's something I really appreciate about older animated films. These teams were very dedicated to their craft.
Hahaha I like that you say "older" films, Pom Poko came out the same year I started animation so it doesn't feel that old to me! But you're totally right, the level of craft pre-computer required a more detailed and robust pre-planning phase that allowed for more refinement of ideas than we see these days, though I might also say the volume and level of talent these days is astounding. But I doubt we'll ever approach the level of pre-planning from back in the day, because we didn't have a choice back then, and in today's pipeline we can make changes up to the last second! For good or bad, it is what it is.
@@8bit_paul Haha, I guess I used that term because this film released four years before I was born. So it was quite literally a lifetime (and some change) ago for me! You're right, there is still an ever-growing pool of artists and animators with varying skills, styles, and techniques. Even with our advances in technology, there will still be room for innovation, as well as traditional methods.
BeBop & RockSteady - two of the most comical baddie characters in the 2012 TMNT Series that we did at Bardel Entertainment for Nickelodeon Animation Add them to the menacing and magnificent totally buffet of baddie characters Tiger-claw and Super Shredder to have produced so many delicious episodes We were all so very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with these dynamic and well developed characters - iconic animation to this day! Season 04 of the series had so very many great characters and I am already looking to see who is highlighted in the next post! Thanks greatly again good Sir!
