So glad I stumbled on this video. As a single person I am part way through the assessment process and this video was extremely helpful. What a lovely lady and this video confirms this path is exactly what I want to do.

I'm sorry you had to go through the I can say that it is true we don't get to do everything that normal teenagers get to do. Not to mention they give you So Many Meds that is looking like an entire bag of Skittles! I don't think I'm going to get adopted I'm probably just going to age out since I'm already 16 but stay strong foster kids you guys are not alone and you all are in my prayers❤

In my opinion you have to have balls of steel to talk about this stuff as I am a foster child I could defo talk about this for RU-vid but it would be hard because I don’t remember anything that really happened when I lived with my mother only what my brothers and sisters have told me 👍

I am at the very beginning of my foster care journey. I hope to be able to offer a safe and empowering home to teenagers like yourself, Casey. You are an inspiration to me to be able to embrace what is understandably a very invasive process. My life has been very traumatic too though my context is different but like you I'm determined that no young person should have to go through what you and I have been through, at least not alone. Thank you and I hope we can both become part of our national foster carers family and support each other and others to be able to provide this essential, safe start in life. God bless.

As a foster kid i thank the kind foster parents for what they do. If it wasn't for people like you my life would still be wit my mum. Im 16 and went through two failed adoptions abd a traumatized kid. Give your foster child best room to grow❤ to the people who are entering foster care and going to foster homes you are a very lucky for you because there's not many out there if you get a parent like this treat them well because they want to be there and help support you as a shelter kid, respect the kind foster parents

Ive been in care for about 7 years, my sister whent into care a few months ago. She the happiest ive ever seen her. 1:30 im deciding whether to cut my mum off rn, 14 and deciding who is in my life. My mums also bipolar Ive lost most of my memories because of trauma, ive been in around 20 diffrent foster placements and i moved through family. I was neglected and abused by them and neglected by social workers. 6:09 thats horrific, no one should EVER expeirence this. I despise social services. Theyve ruined my life. They shluldhave noticed your abuse sooner. 11:39 my foster parents that ive almost been with for 5 yers, they take me on a cruise every year and let me getevery opportunity i can reach. Oh and im autistic and social services refused to tell people that i had VOILENT and AGRESSIVE meltdowns. Love you all <3

This girl is processing her trauma at 18 years old which is massive, it's absolutely critical to do this as soon as possible, not for status and riches, but for true wealth which is a healthy mind, the true currency of our existence. This is something I haven't done and still struggling with it to this very day. I went into care at 6 years old, I'm now 41. I have a Degree, a good job, a great woman I've been with for 23 years, 2 beautiful children at 5 and 9 however there is something missing in my memory and soul, literally, I cannot remember anything from my childhood from the age of 6 to the age of 12 years old. I now know my mind has blanked things out to keep me from breaking down with trauma but It's like an itch I have to scratch. My file is there to take and read from the social services whenever I want but I'm literally shit scared to read that file. How strange to know that I need to know my history to better myself but cannot bring myself to do it. My mind is literally fractured with a personality desperately trying to protect me from my past. This is the rantings, and true face of childhood trauma and this is my story for anyone who cares to know it.

Getting help really can feel impossible. My father kicked me out & wanted me gone that day, but when I gained the strength to leave, and realized the joy I could have in freedom… the light in my eyes angered him, he got in my face and asked where I thought I was going. He attacked me, called the police and lied. The police asked me nothing, and when I wanted to speak, they allowed my father in the room. The policemen laughed at me, and ignored me, had a conversation, and left. He demanded I get myself to school, and wouldn’t allow me access to any phones or anything to contact help. So I left, and somehow ended up getting contact with an elderly lady from church, who agreed to bring me to my mother. Even in the woman’s care, I was punished for lies my father told her. The woman thought we needed a breather, and I was just rebellious. Even there, he had a hold on destroying my life. When my mother brought me into her home, it wasn’t over, it was endless calls, texts, and torment. He reported me kidnapped, had the church praying for him, and police came pounding to take me back.

Oh my god. Poor girl. I can tell she's putting on a brave face to be able to talk about it, but I can't imagine how much pain she's been in throughout her life. And I'm saying that as someone who was abused, but it wasn't nearly as bad as what she's been through. I hope she can keep on healing, it takes time but it gradually gets easier.

I can empathize. I spent the time from when I was 1 month old to 3 and a half in foster care. Went through a failed adoption with every kind of abuse you can imagine and went back into foster care when I was 15. Please get the psychological help you need. I didn’t and found myself, at the age of 50 basically almost out of thin air an alcoholic. My kids had left home so I didn’t have to keep it together.

I know what it is to be hit & hit & hit. I was beaten unsconcious many times. I still cannot get my head around it. Trying now in my 60s. It was like I was a cooked potato & they were trying to mash me. That is the nearest I can get. Trying to get my head around the fact that my mother did not in the slightest bit care what damage she did. It was like she just didn't even notice what she was doing to me. It was like nothing about me was important enough to be worth anyone noticing anything about.

Casey, you are so extraordinarily brave and strong. Your story will help other children that are living similar experiences. I am a teacher and worked as a carer and I’m so glad that in the end school helped you, I hope that my children will feel safe and comfortable to confide in me too. You’re so strong and you deserve all the love and respect in the world and I’m so proud that you didn’t let your childhood bring you down but you used it as a ladder to raise you above. Thank you for being you and talking so openly ❤
