The title always unwillingly cracks me up, because I'm Polish and in Polish "gira" is a word that means "stinky foot". Not "feet" - it's singular 😀So my brain always does this abstract "translate this using a few languages within one sentence" thing and presents me with THE WORLD OF STINKY FOOT 🦶
Shimono also played in 3 ninjas kick back, that movie had everything, baseball championships, karate tournaments, espionage, comedy. For a kids movie it’s so fun!
I didnt get to see this episode for years after it aired in the UK. When I was growing up I had to record The X Files off the tv, (i miss the 90's) and it just so happened that after i recorded this episode someone in the house must have rewound the tape and this episode got recorded over by accident. We didnt have sky tv to get repeats and definitely didnt have the money to buy the box set, so yeah, i must have been an adult before i saw this episode again. Just one of those things! A fun little personal fact about this episode I thought i'd mention.
Mulder : Fortean researchers call these liquid falls. Black and red rains are the most common, but there have also been reported cases of blue, purple, and green rains. Scully : Purple rain? Mulder : Yeah. Great album. Deeply flawed movie, though.
I saw this aged around 10. I wouldn't say it ruined my childhood but it certainly tainted it. Was never the same after it. Wished I'd never watched it to be honest
Lincoln park? Is the baby Crawling? Oh wait he's one step closer to the edge of that train track? Sorry that's all the puns I can think of. What's most disturbing to me is the woman singing on the toilet. Really bothered me haha.
Patrick as Terminator worked due to an anti charisma. Soulless robot. I totally appreciate that performance. Bruce has much more range and would have been a knockout stand in. @groovybruce
I’ve seen this episode a couple times years ago and I remember not liking it very much. However, I have a weird soft spot for it. I vaguely remember this impassioned speech that the female character gives at the end that was…sort of moving? I’ll have to give this a rewatch.
I liked this episode cause of the Chupacabra Folklore, it could have been ended in a better way like the brothers got detained and now their infection being weaponozed or something. Or they could have shown an actual Chupacabra or something like they did in Queelogy finale where an actual loch-ness type monster was shown. Like you said, they wasted good source marterial. Was happy to see Scully flashing her medical credentials after a long time. Though I don't understand how the he'll she got one, she always goes near dead bodies without mask or proper medical attire 😅
For me this is one of the worst episodes. The lethal fungus is a cool idea, and there's some mildly interesting body horror in the episode resulting from it. The main story is dumb and feels lazy, and as you point out, its a waste of a good "monster of the week." I suspect they probably didn't have the budget for an actual creature.
Straight shooter right here. I've seen this Siri many times since I was a kid and I always forget about this episode. Even watching this video I barely remember anything about it. I think I agree with the whole cheaper cobra mythology but not having the chupacabra in it is a stupid way to go. But hell yeah the next video I'm definitely looking forward to! I certainly remember Leonard Betts!
I have lived near san joaquin valley my whole life and I have no idea where this is supposed to be. Lol! It has all ways baffled me. I think the writers thought it was on the Mexican border. 😅
Saying "El Chupacobra" is a staple laugh for my son and I. Right up there w "little fat round Nazi Storm trooper" from Clyde Brukman's Final Repose. And The Jersey Devil is one of my total faves. Maulder's enthusiasm for the Devil lady is so cute, plus lots of character development.
When first watched it just came off as meh. Should have had a creature turn up at the end that was the real Chupacabra kind of like big Blue. On the plus side we got to be reminded that Scully is after all a MeDiCaL Dr.
I have been a fan for the Ghostbusters Franchise since I was a kid and still am a fan, Egon was always my favorite Ghostbuster...... May you rest in peace Harold, your are very much missed and not forgotten.
One thing that is VERY annoying about this episode is that every line spoken in spanish is translated by Ruben Blades to Mulder and Scully. I get why it had to be done, but if you know spanish, it's irritating (specially when most of the cast, excluding Blades, were 2nd generation Americans whose spanish was barely ok-ish). Ruins the immersion. It could've been done differently.
Classic episode, but I’m surprised you didn’t mention the porta-potty guy using his nasty ass gloves to put his cigarette in and out of his mouth. That’s the nastiest part of the episode
@@JBSpookyReviewLol naw man you keep being meticulous with your vids 🤘 just gives me something to look forward to. I just wanted to be able to watch these without spoilers 😂 Gonna be watching the movie here soon. Do you plan on doing any vids on those?
You mentioned the x files using folklore from other cultures, I’m bummed we never got anything dealing with Irish\Gaelic folklore, like banshees or even leprechauns. Scully Is an Irish name. I checked air dates to see if any aired 3/17 St pattys day. Audrey Pauly 3 17 22. Major missed opportunity
It isn't a Mexican soap opera. Buuuuuut... Passions, a show that ran in the late 90s/early 2000s, did, in fact, cover equally goofy stories. As an example, there is an episode where one of the characters turns into a mermaid. And one of the main characters has a talking doll. It's a fantastic show to have a watch party drinking game with. It's hilarious and fully aware it is. 😂 Also, I *just* watched this episode last night. Timing.
For a slightly silly episode, the fungal deaths are very grotesque and memorable. Maybe that's why I like this episode. The shot of the dead grocery clerk and the outhouse are so gross. I don't care about Chupacabras, so to me a rapidly spreading fungus is SPOOKY.
