That "city" is nothing more than a huge blue-collar and retiree neighborhood - a boring and monotonous suburban hell of true American character, really. It has no urban development worth anything, no walkable areas, it has nothing to do, and nothing to show. The best thing one can do in Cape Coral is get in the car and drive away.
While I agree that this is annoying, these assessments have been happening in Cape Coral for decades, so nobody should be surprised. A good real estate agent should know this, inform their clients about it, and reach out to the city during the inspection period to check that status and balance (many are already paid off) so there are no surprises.
I have never seen worst traffic in my whole life and I have traveled around quite a bit. It is even worse than LA San Francisco Bay Area. Absolutely horrible.
So you were sitting in traffic, contributing to the traffic problem, yet complaining about it? 🤦♂ I agree it can be bad here, particularly in the winter, but that's part of being in a very popular place!
I was in the cape for two years then moved back I to NJ I love it their but Florida doesn’t pay like it does up north other than that it was beautiful I will come back one day.
My wife and I vacationed in Cape Coral, Florida because we knew friends and family that recently moved there and said they liked it. We weren't impressed with Cape Coral, Florida because of the flatness and treeless land. Also, we found that the air quality had a lingering odor of pungent smell. We just summed it up to water, fish, or vegetation issues. Sorry to say that we found some gorgeous homes in excellent condition. Further research for home, auto, and flood insurance astronomically expensive and a much needed necessary in the case of a major hurricane or tornadoes or both. Thank you for your video.
And how about you stop calling people you want to leave "liberals" then, there are so many reasons why people, including myself, wants to leave that hellscape.
My problem with the city itself has mostly to do with very little amenities and godawful traffic, moreso I think Florida itself has issues like the weather, traffic again, climate and annoying bugs 💀💀💀 I'll be so happy to relocate to either Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina or even the New England area. Mainly cause i prefer cooler weather, more things to do, and a better quality of life.
That's too bad as the area is pretty much back to normal. Aside from a handful of places, you wouldn't know there was a hurricane just over a year ago!
@@LivinginFortMyers: '... you wouldn't know there was a hurricane ...' Until the next one. The MAJOR drawback of living in many parts of Florida is the weather.
Not sure I understand what you're saying as Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres are different areas. And while Lehigh does have some problem areas (every does) it's got plenty of nice ones too!
Wow! Back in the late 90s it was surrounded by farmland and swampland; I'm sure the area is MUCH different now than what you remember it was like! Thanks for watching!
@@LivinginFortMyers Yes it was! My grandma’s place was on Stockbridge Lane which is basically backed right up to the marshes that lead to the bay/the beach. I loved riding my bike back there but I do recall running in to a rattle snake or two! I also recall there being a helipad or some thing back there. I just checked google earth and looks like they are building new homes back in that space now!
Ok now this senario. I want to have a Condo in the winter in Florida. I can buy one at an inflated price say $325k or I can rent one for say $28k for three months in the winter and walk away. If I buy then I am stuck with an HOA payment of $500-$1200 per month. Some of these condos you can not rent weekly put only monthly. Now with the insurance going up (doubling) because of the hurricane damage is it really worth it to buy just to have another home to worry about for the other 9 months out of the year?
Every situation is unique and will depend on the person and home; you cannot make an accurate blanket statement either way. However, based on the numbers you gave, that $28,000 rent payment (for only three months) will pay your mortgage and HOA fees for an entire year based on a $325,000 purchase price with 20% down. If you decide to rent out the home when you aren't using it, you'll have positive cash flow. Then there's the appreciation that a renter is missing out on while at the same time falling victim to inflation. While most insurance premiums did rise after Ian, there were very few that saw their premiums double. Only you can decide what is worth it to you, just be sure to crunch all the numbers first (and make sure they're accurate and not hyperbole).
@@LivinginFortMyers Moving to CC for fun ? Being a country-boy, I'd like to move up the coast to have some seclusion. That is, unless the realtors have grabbed all the lonely beaches
#1 is Infrastructure - more than half the city has No sidewalks, no Streetlights, very narrow roads with potholes. It is used as a textbook example of how not build when students study urban planning. The infrastructure was doomed from the start because Cape Coral was originally a land scam but somehow became real.
I wouldn't go so far to say the Cape is/was a land scam but they definitely could have planned things out a little better. That being said, I think most areas that have rapid growth tend to play catch-up with these things.

we only drink bottle water. water system in cape is trash and always has boil water notices. I loved the airbnbs since i work in vacation property managment but the fucking traffic is horrible. 15 mins to drive 3 miles
Just about all the tap water in South Florida is pretty bad; a lot of homeowners invest in a water softer, which I highly recommend! And yes, when it comes to traffic you want to avoid rush hour, especially during snowbird season!
Not being able to drink the water that comes out of the tap is BAD. In my country unless the treatment plant has put something in the wrong tank, it's safe to drink tap water.
Oh man, I'm sorry to hear that! The good news is that if you've owned your home for four years you likely have a lot of equity in it. Let's get is sold so you can move on to greener pastures! Call me and we can discuss! 239-244-9900
Which health care policy would you recommend to Canadians choosing to come to visit the US or Mexico either short term or semi-permanently. Which health care policy works best for those of us with preexisting conditions. I am just 51 now but would like to consider Florida or Mexico, depending on who better covers my medical conditions, dental, and prescription issues.
Health care (including insurance coverage) is extremely specific to the individual so I can't really comment on that as I'm not qualified. I would suggest finding a health insurance broker to speak with or even start with the health insurance marketplace (aka Obamacare) although I'm not sure if that is an option for non-residents. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
Unfortunately, most communities don't allow permanent residents to be under 55 except for a spouse (if the other spouse is 55+). However, most of our communities in the Fort Myers area tend to heavily favor the 55+ crowd, even if they aren't age-restricted, so there are likely some great options that would work for your situation. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to discuss further; my email is zach@pelicanteam.com Thanks for watching!

I think every area in SWFL has it's positives and negatives, including Lehigh Acres! I'm glad you have a place that you love and are proud to live there! Thank you for watching and commenting!
The lack of beaches can be seen as a good thing, as Cape Coral does not draw so many drunken, careless, entitled tourists as some other parts of Florida. The presence of so many vacation rentals is one of the sucky things. The flip side of winter traffic is that it's normal to have traffic in most cities, but Cap Coral has hardly any in the summer.
I agree with the partiers & drunken tourists but a lot of people still like to have easy access to a beach in Florida. I'm not complaining that Cape Coral isn't a beach town (that was fun in my 20s, but not now) but it's a shame you can't get to Sanibel or Fort Myers Beach a little easier. And yes, traffic is BETTER is the summer, but each summer seems to get worse than the previous summer (and this is for all of SWFL, not just the Cape). And rush hour from CC to FM in the morning (and FM to CC in the evening) is horrible, no matter the time of year! Thanks for watching!
While there are plenty of smaller shops in Cape Coral and of course things like Publix, Lowe's, etc you will definitely find more of the larger chains, malls, and shopping areas outside of Cape Coral. Thanks for watching!
whats the address of the house thats for sale on a 10 acre lot? I think its off Daniels PKWY on the opposite side of the street. It has a main house and a guest house. I saw it on Zillow but mistakenly deleted it. It has a horse farm on it I believe
Hi Brian. You haven't given me enough info to go on. Where on Daniels Parkway? Daniels Parkway is over ten miles long. Opposite side of what? Please feel free to reach out to me directly and I would be glad to help you out. 239-244-2226
They have beaches, traffic is similar, and property taxes are higher! Check out this video where I actually touch on the St. Lucie area compared to some other places in Florida: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SoI9LlcGV6w.html Thanks for watching!
You need to double check those water lines, John! The one for drinking should also be used for bathing and washing things. The second water line just for watering plants/grass and should definitely NOT be used for drinking or cleaning anything!
@@LivinginFortMyers well 2nd line doesn't go directly to house. It's a box in ground. Usually out in front yard. It's for washing cars and watering lawn. Non drinkable. They don't really want you using drinking water for that. And keeps water bill way down.
@@johnramirez5996 I know. I wouldn’t use it to wash anything, including my car. I wouldn’t even let the sprinklers hit my car. That water is nasty and corrosive.
