Iran had a ruling Kurdish dynasty. The Safavids were of the Zarrin kolah Kurdish clan of Nihavand. They did not call their empire Kurdistan! Because Iran is the country of Kurds and always has been. The Zand dynasty were of Lak origin, they didn't call their realm Kurdistan. They called it Iran! Because again Iran is the land of Kurdish people and always has been!

@Delaram Salmassi I believe that under Achaemenid and Sassanid empires, Greater Iran or Iranshahr, consisted of several Satraps. Each satrap was an independent state with its own government and its own Shah (King). All these satraps were united under one Emperor who we know as Shah an Shah (King of the Kings). Today Kurdistan and Lorestan were Satrap of Media (in Farsi we say Maad), Armenia was another Satrap, and Atropatene (Azar Abadegan) was another Satrap.(Other satraps that you can recognize today were Pars and Spahan and so on). This was an early form of Federalism and Shah an Shah did not meddle with internal affairs of Satraps. This historical theory is consistent with differences in local languages and customs between Iranian people that we see today. Kurds always consider themselves as Iranian, look at their national Flag. A Sun (symbol of Mitra) with 21 Sunbeams (for March 21st , The Nowrooz). But Kurds are not Persian, they have never been Persian and we as Persians must respect it. We all are Iranian, children of the same mother (Iran Shahr), but trying to bring all Iranian people under the rule of one ethnic group creates hate and segregation. To answer your questions: We can rebuild the Commonwealth of Iranian people , if Iran as the biggest and strongest country is able to create a powerful cultural and economical influence so that other separated parts find enough interests in coming back to mother country. From there maybe forming a political Union of Iranian States (Satraps) - UIS is possible. Imagine a day that Tajiks, Hazare Afghans, Pashtuns, Armenians, Kurds and Shia Arabs are proudly members of this great union, while they have political and cultural independence from any other member.
