A channel dedicated to all things miniature and tabletop terrain.
On this channel I will show you different ways to create and paint up miniature terrain for your Dungeons and Dragons, Board Game, and other Tabletop gaming needs.
I create content for everything including self-created content, and content that I enhance (For example, the store-bought aquarium terrain video....taking something boring and basic, and making it useable for tabletop terrain to keep costs low for gamers that want amazing terrain pieces!)
I am always open to suggests and feedback and aim to create more content based on what user feedback. What do you want to see? What do you wish you knew how to create easy, and cheap? We can work on that!
Be sure to like and subscribe and drop some comments on videos with questions and feedback. Keep crafting!
How long has it been drying for? It shouldn't feel spongy really, it should be hardened (Just like Elmers glue when it dries) and should not really be chipping. What sort of glue are you using with your black paint? I would recommend using either a craft paint like those Apple Barrel cheap craft paints, or if you can find them, a "primer" type of acrylic. But together, I've not experienced any chipping or soft/spongy texture after it dried over-night.
Ensure you've got a new fresh blade! After some usage, the blade dulls too much to cut smoothly. Also when you're cutting, try cutting in a single slicing action with very light pressure. (Not like a sawing action. That can work but doesn't come off as clean, and can cause tearing. Going with light pressure and a single directional blade stroke helps keep it a clean cut! It just takes a little bit of practice! :)
Probably a few different things you can do. Cut it with the hot-wire, then hack at it with a box-cutter/blade knife to change the texture. OR alternatively, cover the sides with more texture material (like what I used on the tops) and add in more coarse sand and pebbles. That'd make it rough around the edges, without the cut-lines from a hot-wire!
the air-brushed paints I used were craft paints (They were actually games workshop citadel paints) , however you can use ANY acrylic based paint of your choice and you'll end up with similar results :)
If you don’t already you can prime your chipboard with black mod podge on all sides. Once hardened the other materials stick better. Nice work. Great flow and explanation!
You can find him from Artisan guild, here on MyMiniFactory - www.myminifactory.com/users/Artisan_Guild Just search for "Troubles in Tavern" near the bottom and he's there!
Thanks for that! I actually would love to tinker more with limited palettes! It's a great challenge and definitely something different. I think next time i'll try some really extreme colors and see what I can do with it!
I think I may just start doing that as well (I see many creators show the final product - > then process -> Then final again) Perhaps I will adopt that going forward!
Oh It's a learning experience through-and-through! If you're making tutorials, just film stuff as you make it and try to capture as much of the process as possible (And clearly!)--editing and such is really a good skill to have, but most importantly I think is showing exactly what you're doing and being able to explain what you're doing (And why!)-- Cheers !
Really nice video, those terrains look so cool and not just from a distance but up close they look so detailed. I don't have a 3D printer, any chance you are selling bases you 3D print?
Great video there mate they came out a treat! I am telling the truth right now but after watching this video I went out and put a big order for vallejo pigments and texture paints XD
You won't regret it! Pigments are great for all sorts of bases, and not even bases, but also things like adding texture and dirt to cloaks, clothing, terrain features, you name it! Super handy!
Those came out great man! all 3 were unique and well done. Those files printed extremely well too! great support work :D. Now I need to up my Tuft game so I can be on your level lol
Sweet video, amazing paint job. Makes me want to try a bust at some point. How many gold pieces does Thor let you rent his beard of power for? Great job man. This channel is great! 🤘
Your face looks young, but your beard tells me you've seen some stuff in your life so far. For a second I thought you "got rid" of your sisters lol. Final product looks real great and it was nice seeing the process.
